Major Functions
The Show Services Manager shall be responsible for all event related show services including electrical, mechanical, phone, internet and related utility services for exhibitors and customers of Ocean Center. Position will manage on-line ordering system and shall be responsible for coordination of assigned tasks within the Facilities and Show Services department, the scheduling of staff, utilization of equipment and storage of supplies, administration of shop areas and procurement of materials, equipment, and supplies. Position shall assist department manager in the day-to-day activities of the department.

Directly manages all utility services provided to service contractors, vendors, and exhibitors. Services may include electrical, gas, water, phone, television, computer, Internet connections, banner hanging, etc.

Assists IT department staff with installation and maintenance of show services IT needs.

Coordinates and reviews rigging and banner hanging plans to ensure requests meet safety and code requirements.

Maintains spare parts inventory for utility services.

Reviews plans for long-range assignments for Show Service personnel and other matters as required.

Schedules, coordinates, and maintains lighting control systems needed for shows.

Manages and supervises on-line ordering system(s) for Show services.

Manages exhibitor orders from all sources, to insure correct and timely installation and charges for services.

Ensures that the planning and delivery of required services are performed in a timely manner in accordance with current policies and procedures.

Coordinates service desk personnel staffing and manage installation of orders for show services.

Obtains the necessary equipment and supplies for maintenance and repair, using county purchasing systems.

Monitors and controls the inventory of equipment, materials, tools and supplies to fulfill the needs of the Show Services department, while maintaining appropriate cost controls.

Research and recommend equipment, tools, materials and supplies for department use.

Performs periodic inspections of all client utility installations, electrical and mechanical systems, exhibit halls, meeting rooms, ballrooms, and other areas as required.

Maximizes the efficient utilization and scheduling of labor based on maintenance and event requirements.

Works with facilities services to cross utilize staff in order to minimize overtime and temporary help.

Manage and coach staff. Conducts evaluations of performance, based on the service standards of Ocean Center.

Recommends changes to staffing levels or assignments to enhance the delivery of quality service and to provide for maximum utilization of employee skills and abilities.

Attends and participates in regular meetings with department staff to keep them informed of events, projects, concerns, etc.

Provides daily supervision and guidance for the show services staff.

Performs routine building maintenance functions, including HVAC, plumbing, painting, carpentry, and electrical and mechanical equipment repair.

Monitors and adjusts computerized building control systems to provide a comfortable environment, while controlling costs.

May be assigned to other county locations based upon operational needs

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, or related field. Two (2) years of responsible supervisory experience in physical plant maintenance and the operation of a large public assembly facility comparable to the Ocean Center.
Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Must obtain a valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days of hire and maintain thereafter.
A comparable amount of education, training or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. For example: Associates in Business Administration , Management, Engineering, or related field and four (4) years of responsible supervisory experience in physical plant maintenance and the operation of a public assembly facility comparable to the Ocean Center.
Having met the minimum qualifications, the preferred candidate will have the following:

Two (2) years of experience in facility services at a supervisory level or equivalent.

Ability to demonstrate technical expertise in the areas of show services installations to include electrical and mechanical connections for booth services, heating and air conditioning, welding, painting, lighting controls and carpentry.

Must be a certified electrician with experience with telecommunications equipment and computerized work order systems.

Mental Demands: Ability to read and comprehend technical and professional manuals and journals, procedures; safety instructions; instructions, memos, letters; blueprints, schematics, layouts. Ability to write reports, evaluations, financial reports, memos, procedures, policies. Ability to perform general mathematical functions and shop math. Ability to speak clearly and concisely to relay instructions, information, data and details.
Physical Demands: Ability to perform essential duties and responsibilities and meet the minimum qualifications. Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 20 pounds. Ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, talk, see, hear. Ability to work in low light conditions. Visual acuity (peripheral vision, depth perception) necessary to operate motorized vehicles.
