Quality of Life Counseling Center is seeking Job Coaches who have a passion for working with youth who are diving into the employment world. Our "Youth At Work" program prepares participants for employment through soft skill and hard skill development, job coaching and placement, and mentorship. Youth At Work is designed to meet the unique needs of the youth being served with the necessary skills and employment opportunities to successfully enter and sustain employment in the Hampton Roads area. Youth At Work serves as a vital component in helping to prepare youth for the successful transition into the world-of-work whether now or later in their academic careers.

    The Youth At Work program runs Monday - Thursday for 2 (two) hours each day.

    Position Description: A Job Coach is a professional whom is educated and experienced in helping people enhance their strengths and improve their working skills. Our Job Coaches works with youth who need or want help and guidance in their professional development and advancement of their careers. Some of the youth referred to our agency are transitioning back into the community from foster care, detention centers, and out of home placement so great mentoring skills is a strong plus. Our Job Coaching involve both group and individual coaching.

    Responsibilities: The Job Coach is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the program. He or she will:

    • Developing and implementing effective coaching strategies to help participants overcome employment-related challenges.
    • Identifying participant’s strengths and advising them on how to use those strengths to secure employment or excel in their chosen career path.
    • Developing effective job coaching and employment plans.
    • Assisting participants to discover and overcome their personal barriers and set goals.
    • Providing information on suitable career paths based on participant’s skills, qualifications, interests, and experience.
    • Conducting tests to assess clients' skills and abilities and providing feedback on test results.
    • Reviewing participants resumes and suggesting improvements as needed.
    • Maintaining accurate records of participant’s progress.
    • Liaising with employers to identify possible job opportunities for participants.
    • Discover participant's motivation and help develop their skills.
    • Develop and prepare written assessment and monthly progress notes of participant's adjustment to work and file them in case records.
    • Other responsibilities as required.

    Position Requirements

    • Proven experience working as a Job Coach.
    • Sound knowledge of different jobs and career paths.
    • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
    • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.

    Other skills:

    • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficient computer skills; strong word processing, database management and spreadsheet skills, and the ability to learn propriety systems
    • Excellent research, organizational, and time management skills.
    • Special mental or physical demands:
    • Light travel, to participant's worksite

    Job Types: Part-time, Contract

    Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
