Qualifications:

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Preferred 2 year or greater college degree.
• Experience:
  • Preferred Five (5) years sterile processing or related field experience with demonstrated knowledge of instrument sterilization techniques, Sterile Processing policies and procedures, purchasing activities, and surgical procedures.
  • Preferred one year or more sterile processing or related field supervisory experience.
  • CRCST or CSPDT Certification required

Job Description:

• Under the general direction of the Director of Surgical Services.
• The SPD Quality Specialist is responsible for monitoring, evaluation, and reporting the performance of all sterile processing staff inside and outside the hospital setting.
• Will provide oversite in the processing of surgical instruments and scopes regarding quality and productivity of work.
• Specifically, this position will be responsible for assisting with the training of new employees and confirming employee competence for Ohio County Healthcare.
• This position will also assist the central sterile processing supervisor by providing improved design recommendations to the central sterile processing system.
• The SPD Quality Specialist will also assist with the implementation of department policies and procedures as well as implementing performance improvement activities for all sterile processing staff inside and outside the hospital.
• This position also provides regular updates to staff on current issues affecting the organization, particularly quality issues.
• Will be responsible to make routine rounds on all clinic locations performing sterile processing and report back any issues or concerns.
