  • Overview:

    The Commonwealth Senior Living Transportation Specialist (Driver) supports the Program Director in all transportation efforts. Ensuring residents remain engaged, healthy, and safe is the priority of the position. The Transportation Specialist will carry out a specific transportation task the Program Director assigns.

     

    Position: PRN position- as needed, Monday-Friday & Sundays

     

    Areas of Responsibility:

    • Transports community residents to and from medical appointments, activities, and recreational outings using the community-owned vehicle
    • Manages transportation and resident outings for Independent Living residents
    • Displays mature behavior and attitude in speech and action; demonstrates consistently pleasant demeanor, and tone of voice, supports the core values and approach to resident care and passenger safety used by the community.
    • Understand the safety practices and procedures.
    • Reads the transportation schedule daily and ensures all scheduled appointments can be met.
    • Is flexible for unscheduled transportation needs in an emergency.
    • Monitors resident activity and alerts staff when assistance is necessary to assure resident safety.
    • Completes routine periodic vehicle inspection checks and informs the Executive Director of any maintenance problems or safety issues that need to be addressed.
    • Requires minimal supervision; is a self-starter.
    • Advises the supervisor and appropriate manager of any changes in the physical and mental health of residents immediately.
    • Communicates effectively with supervisor and other staff.
    • Follows emergency procedures.
    • All of the duties that are assigned by any member of management.

     Qualifications:

    • Must have current Class F, Class A, or Class V and S endorsement on state driver's license and clean driving record.
    • Experience in a driving position preferred.
    • Must have the ability to operate a van lift.
    • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
    • Must have a clean driving record, be eligible to be ensured on the company driving policy, and be able to operate a large passenger van safely.
    • Valid driver's license, with no major violations within 3 years
