Top Sustainability Executive oversees all aspects of an organization's sustainability programs. Designs and develops corporate sustainability strategies to ensure that business practices, products, and services are environmentally friendly and compliant with government rules and regulations. Being a Top Sustainability Executive collaborates with other leaders to implement processes and technologies that reduce the organization's carbon footprint. Promotes and explains the organization's sustainability philosophy to internal and external audiences. Additionally, Top Sustainability Executive requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Top Sustainability Executive manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. Comprehensive knowledge of the overall departmental function. Sustainability Coordinator

  • Coordination and Management of the OSU Sustainability Program to include development, implementation, administration, documentation, and communication of comprehensive campus wide programs that promote sustainability (i.e. resource conservation, recycling, and waste reduction).

    Coordinate and interact with campus departments that have existing environmental initiatives to enhance those efforts and to share ideas regarding successful initiatives across campus.

    Serve as the Public Relations point of contact and work with OSU Marketing and Communications office, as well as other sustainability venues, to increase awareness of OSU's sustainability initiatives through various media.

    Position interacts with campus and off-campus public during normal course of business.

    Work may be required outside of normal office hours as needed.

    Must use appropriate personal protective equipment when needed and as required (hard hat, vest, gloves, safety glasses, etc.). These items are provided and are not for personal use.

    Required to work safely and promote a safe environment.

    The work environment includes time spent in an administrative office in a state-of-the-art thermal plant where periodic loud noise is possible.

    Blackout Leave Periods: Landscape services has three identified blackout periods each year. No leave will be approved during these times.
    Leave requests will not be approved for the month of May, August, and October until the dates for each event listed below are posted
    with main campus.
    1. Two weeks prior to First day of School for Fall Semester
    2. Two weeks before Homecoming
    3. Two weeks before Spring Commencement

    Position Qualifications:


    Minimum Qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, or a related field in engineering or a science discipline with an environmental focus.

    Must have before hire and maintain after hire, a valid driver's license. A valid driver's license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle, which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned.

    Ability to motivate student, staff and faculty groups and individuals to develop, promote and integrate sustainability programming into their activities.

    Working knowledge of programs, strategies and technologies to reduce Oklahoma State University's impact on the environment.

    Management of environmental programs and systems.

    Good communication skills including technical writing.

    Excellent organizational skills; the ability manage multiple tasks and prioritize work.

    Proficiency with presentation skills and Microsoft software.

    Self-directed performer with the ability to motivate others in various parts of the organization toward improving program performance.

    Demonstrated, strong leadership skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Master’s degree in Natural Resources, Environmental Policy or a related field.

    In addition to experience required, AASHE STARS reporting experience is preferred.
