Are you ready to drive the strategic optimisation of product supply chains within the Vaccine and Immune Therapy areas at AstraZeneca?
As the Global Supply Chain and Strategy Executive Director, you will play a crucial role in establishing and optimising product supply chains throughout their lifecycle, applying your expertise to make data-driven recommendations for investment decisions. Your leadership will extend to providing product/brand guidance to senior managers within Operations and representing Operations and product supply on AstraZeneca's Global Product Teams and in other senior product partner forums.
About the Role
In this role, you will be tasked with optimising the performance of current supply chains, implementing lean methodologies to improve supply chain lead time and taking accountability for improving the Cost of Goods throughout the lifecycle. You will collaborate with the Global Supply group to deliver end-to-end Supply Chain operational performance critical metrics and support initiatives to optimise inventory, ensuring a constant state of readiness for product supply through effective business continuity plans.
Your leadership will extend to advising a matrixed supply chain team to complete the brand strategy and seamlessly deliver key supply chain changes. You will be instrumental in delivering successful, timely new product launches and leading all aspects of multi-region supply issue resolution to a successful conclusion, including demand allocation/prioritisation.
This is a significant leadership role for V&I in Operations and requires an individual who can;
Expertly represent Operations and supply in frequent V&I Senior Leader meetings, often as the delegate for the VP, lead the weekly S&OP discussions, and demonstrate mastery in communication, influencing, and partner management to navigate the complexities of V&I supply.
Additionally, you will be a confident communicator for government interactions related to V&I supply and will identify areas of improvement in V&I ways of working to support the multifaceted nature of V&I development and supply.
Key Accountabilities:
Work seamlessly with the V&I business unit to provide timely supply strategies aligned with the speed of vaccine development.
Apply your knowledge and expertise to rapidly craft, establish and optimize V&I product supply chains throughout the lifecycle for a portfolio of products within a Therapy Area, recognizing the flexibilityof these types of products..
Provide product/brand leadership to other senior managers within AstraZeneca representing Operations at the Global Product Teams and other senior product partner forums.
Lead and direct Global Supply Teams (matrix team(s)) to develop and implement the brand strategy across AZ Operations and supply chain changes.
Deliver successful, timely new product launches to parameters agreed with our V&I team.

Essential Skills/Experience:
Specific experience within the Therapy area of Vaccines and Infection is crucial
Experience working with senior leaders in an organisation (CEO / / SVP / VP level)
Demonstrated in-depth experience in end-to-end supply chain management, lean supply chains, and data integrity.
Demonstrated proficiency in supply strategy development, influencing, teamwork, enterprise thinking, relationship management, financial foresight, product costing and case development.
A comprehensive understanding of product development, manufacturing, and supply management and how other functions contribute to achieving the business's supply chain objectives.
Previous experience working in a global complex cross-matrix matrix environment, where you are accountable for part or all of the supply chain.
Detailed knowledge of lean and how it can be applied to supply chains
Understanding global, regional and local environments to identify risks and design robust supply chains that deliver products in the real world.
A detailed understanding of the pharmaceutical or broader healthcare industries, the global context, and how this relates to business opportunities.
Excellent influencing/ communication and presentation skills (written, visual, virtual)
Advanced supply chain (inventory and capacity) planning skills including systems and data
Understanding of different supply methods (e.g. VMI/CMI, Flow, Kanban)
Understanding of supply chain planning parameters, master data and master data integrity & quality
Experience in collaboration with the key interfaces in the end to end supply chain and between supply chain and commercial functions
Capable working in long term horizons, projects – setting longer term strategies etc.
