    Wittenberg University is accepting applications for the position of Executive Director, Career Engagement & Professional Development. The Executive Director will strategically lead and manage Wittenberg's approach to enhancing the professional development, career advancement, vocational exploration, life design, experiential learning, and mentoring opportunities for students. This individual will design and manage the process of helping students gain the knowledge, experience, and skills necessary to complement their liberal arts education, ensuring every student has resources that will equip them to be competitive and fulfilled in post-college life. This individual will also strategically lead and manage an integrated approach to external relations to establish greater professional development, leadership, graduate school, post-graduate, and career opportunities for Wittenberg students. This is a full-time, exempt-level position reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Student Development.

    Essential functions include but are not limited to:

    • Lead a team that readies students for post-graduate opportunities and builds relationships with students, alumni, parents and family members, employers and graduate schools to provide those opportunities. Establish strategies, goals, and metrics that will ensure success in these efforts.
    • Lead identification and development of programs that help accelerate current students' preparation for internships and job interviews, graduate school preparation and application processes, as well as help build their technical skills in areas for which they are pursuing.
    • Support the career, professional, graduate school, and leadership development of students through coaching and career counseling.
    • Lead and establish metrics for assessment efforts; work closely with Institutional Research to oversee collection of employment data, learning outcomes and other information.
    • Engage and develop strong relationships with Wittenberg alumni, parents and family members, graduate schools, foundations, and employers to increase mentoring and recruiting of Wittenberg students for short-term career exploration experiences, internships and full-time career or graduate school opportunities while marketing the talent of Wittenberg students.
    • Lead and manage a strategic approach to managing the infrastructure of career exploration that further professionalizes and effectively supports programs, services, and the success of University strategic initiatives while connecting students and recent graduates with the extended Wittenberg network for career and vocational exploration activities, events, and referrals.
    • Oversee and leverage Wittenberg's leadership development programs to aid in students' growth and professional development including: Emerging Leaders, Sophomore Surge, and the Student Leader Fellows Program.
    • Work closely with Advancement staff to identify and cultivate relationships with individual donors and corporate partners to provide financial support for the Center and greater opportunities for students.
    • Participate in Student Development and institutional committees supporting the work of campus and the division in achieving its mission.
    • Perform other relevant duties as assigned such as special projects, programs, developmental activities, etc.


    Requirements:

    Requirements include:

    • A master's degree in higher education/student affairs, business/organizational management, or related field is required.
    • Five to seven years experience with employer relationship management and establishing professional development opportunities for college students or young professionals.
    • Experience as supervisor/manager.
    • Excellent customer service, time management, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work with a variety of constituents, solve problems quickly and professionally, anticipate needs, and communicate proactively.
    • Candidates should be committed to student success and have a commitment to and understanding of a liberal arts education and diversity at a church-related college.
    • Competency and experience using Microsoft Office software, specifically proficient in the use of Excel, Publisher, Outlook, and PowerPoint with the ability and desire to learn additional software applications as necessary.
    • Night and weekend work will be required depending on campus events and needs.
    • Remain stationary in upright position for more than 50% of the workday.
    • Routinely move equipment weighing up to 40 pounds for event/activity needs.
