SUMMARY OF POSITION :
Responsible to assess for potential risk issues across the Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Academic Practice (APD), and Community Practice Divisions (CPD), including consultation, investigation, assessment of risk, and the associated recommendations to decrease risk exposure. Manage a portfolio of risk management projects, including continued evaluation of potentially compensable patient events in order to assist in the monitoring and evaluation of clinical processes for the safe delivery of care. Provide educational presentations to clinical staff regarding opportunities to decrease their risk exposure as well as that of the organization(s). Present to hospital leadership and partner with clinical areas to improve patient and staff safety and decrease clinical risk exposure. Responsible for administrative support of the litigation process for any HMC, APD or CPD claims, including those related to any employees of those areas. Additionally, responsible to maintain information related to insured defendants in those claims and respond to claims history requests related to the same.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Bachelor’s degree in business, clinical or risk-related discipline or equivalent experience (4 years) required.
Five (5) years of relevant experience required.
CPHRM within three (3) years of employment in role.
Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) within three (3) years of employment in role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION(S):
Previous clinical experience preferred.
Registered Nurse preferred.
