Firm Risk Management
Firm Risk Management (FRM) supports Morgan Stanley to achieve its business goals by partnering with business units across the Firm to realize efficient risk-adjusted returns, acting as a strategic advisor to the Board and protecting the Firm from exposure to losses as a result of credit, market, liquidity, operational, model, and other risks.
The role will reside within the Firm Risk Management’s Market Risk Department (MRD) which is a team dedicated to providing independent market risk oversight across the Morgan Stanley’s trading and banking activities. The position is for a junior Market Risk Manager working in a multi-disciplinary team covering the Firm’s Wealth Management (WM) division and US Bank Legal Entities (MSBNA and MSPBNA, collectively referred to as the Banks). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to collaborate across many functions and product areas as well as work on a wide range of business-critical risk issues. This role also offers the opportunity to engage various trading desks and work across the full range of asset classes.
Primary Responsibilities
· Monitoring market risks including the use of metrics such as Value-at-Risk (VaR), Greeks, and scenario analysis on a daily basis
· Performing risk assessment of the WM/Banks balance sheet, including mortgages, loans, bank deposits, liquidity portfolio, and Institutional Sales Group (ISG) trading portfolios on the Bank
· Assessing and monitoring interest rate risks related to banking book business activities, utilizing metrics such as Net Interest Income (NII) and Economic Value of Equity (EVE)
· Maintaining active dialogue with portfolio managers, Risk Management colleagues, and other support groups regarding trading and hedging strategies, risk metrics, and limit frameworks
· Preparing reports and presentations to effectively communicate key risk drivers to the Board of Directors, senior management, and regulators on a regular basis#LI-JB3
Experience
· 2 Years experience in a trading or a market risk department is advantageous
· Curiosity and self-motivation to develop expertise in financial products, markets, and risk management practices
· Ability to synthesize complex problems and conceptualize appropriate solutions
· Proactive with the ability to work as both part of a close-knit team and independently
· Strong IT skills are desired to facilitate data analysis, competence MS Excel, VBA, and SQL
· Excellent communication skills for written, graphical and verbal presentation, with high competency in PowerPoint
· Knowledge of market risk concepts on interest rate risk on banking book (IRRRBB) such as Economic Value of Equity, Net Interest Income, capital volatility and earning risk
· Product expertise in Fixed Income and/or Equity products including derivatives is desired
