    Job Description

    The position of a DTS Tower Crew Tophand is to oversee from the tower top field projects, on the tower crew members, and report progress to foreman. This position will engage in the installation, inspection, or maintenance of tower sites as required by various client requests.


    Functional Responsibilities

    • Climb towers to lead in installation, replacement, and troubleshooting of wireless equipment based on direction from Foreman and Construction Manager
    • Safely and efficiently perform line and antenna systems tower construction, and antenna and line installation, maintenance, and decommissioning activities
    • Monitor and verify assets inventories, such as vehicles, trailers, tools, and other devices
    • Lead daily preparation for deployment to projects
    • Final inspection of tower work performed, and ensure client site is clean upon completion of work
    • Perform construction activities as directed; maintain awareness of changing conditions of the site
    • Help monitor and maintain site safety requirements by performing at height work tasks and operations; keeping safety barriers in place, and monitoring general site conditions
    • Conduct work activities in a manner which supports good site housekeeping and safe work habits
    • Travel to sites for extended periods of time

    Knowledge – Skills – Abilities

    High School diploma / GED preferred

    One year of construction experience is preferred

    Current certification in Tower Climbing Safety and Rescue required

    Certification from industry specific training program strongly preferred

    Must possess a valid and unexpired and unrestricted driver’s license, along with a clean motor vehicle record

    Able to travel 90% ; notice for deployment on emergency services basis is minimal

    Ability to read and comprehend written instructions; able to follow verbal instructions

    Ability to perform work in various types of inclement weather and conditions; comfortable working at remote and difficult to reach sites

    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted on a routine basis; up to 75 lbs on occasional basis

    Ability to scale towers and work at heights of 200 feet, and able to bend, reach, twist, and kneel routinely throughout the work day

    Ability to safely work with hand and power tools in difficult positions and postures

    OSHA 10 and 30 Certification is preferred, or a required ability to obtain upon hire
