    DEPARTMENT: Academic Affairs

    PRIMARY LOCATION: Fall River

    REPORTS TO: Vice President of Academic Affairs

    POSITIONS SUPERVISED: Staff Associates, Directors

     

    STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

    The Executive Dean plays a vital leadership role at Bristol Community College, working closely with the Vice President of Academic Affairs and other senior leaders to ensure the integrity, innovation, and excellence of academic programs and services. The Executive Dean provides strategic direction, oversight, and support for academic initiatives and the strategic plan. The Executive Dean ensures appropriate management of the Academic Affairs office and provides primary support for Academic Affairs office staff and Directors while supporting key work in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Demonstrate high-level leadership and presence at all campus locations to reflect the commitment to Bristol's core values with Academic Affairs leaders and in internal and external partnerships.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of the academic strategic plan.
    • Oversee online education integration and expansion efforts.
    • Oversee Credit for Prior Learning policy applications and opportunities for students
    • Provide development support for the areas of Internships, Experiential Learning, Student Success Courses/First Year Experience Courses.
    • Prepare material for external presentations on behalf of the institution.
    • Monitor budget progress and approve expenditures for Academic Affairs.
    • Participate in grievance process and support adherence to institutional policies and adopted Collective Bargaining Agreements.
    • Coordinate the development of implementation plans for new initiatives.
    • Monitor standard data reports for accuracy.
    • Provide training to faculty as part of professional development.
    • Support student requests for: Petitions for Waivers, Course Repeat approvals, and Directed Studies requests.
    • Oversee the Academic Dismissal process.
    • Provide risk assessment and ensure compliance with actions out of the central Academic Affairs office.
    • Support the work of the VPAA and the Deans in fostering relationships with area schools, institutions of higher education, community-based organizations, and businesses.
    • Establish sunset review policy and monitor policy maturation and review.
    • Support Early College planning and program support integration.
    • Demonstrate a sense of professionalism and consistently reflect Bristol's core values while interacting with members of the Bristol community.
    • Focus on the Commonwealth's Equity Agenda by applying related best practices throughout all job functions.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    Job Requirements:

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

     

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of a Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a teaching field.
    • Five years of full-time administrative experience in an academic institution of higher education.
    • Demonstrated skill in data analytics.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills focused on service skills, demonstrated accuracy and dependability in the work environment, with strong attention to detail.
    • Demonstrated success in providing leadership for academic programs/departments, providing faculty development and strategic planning. 
    • Demonstrated ability to exercise significant independent judgment.
    • Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

     

    ADDITIONAL REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 applications.
    • Experience and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Access, and Power Automate.
    • Strong analytical and reconciling skills.
    • Ability to function independently with minimum direct supervision.
    • Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of collected data, draw conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations and reporting statements.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as financial reports, accounts, and ledgers.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
    • Ability to build relationships and maintain communication in a shared governance environment.
    • Proficiency in both oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to exhibit and promote values of integrity, trust, confidence, loyalty, respect, and unity of self and others.
    • The ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
    • Reliable transportation in order to travel to and from meetings, trainings, or campus and community locations as required. 

     

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Earned Doctoral degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a teaching field.
    • 7 years of full-time academic administrative experience at a community college.
    • 3 years of full-time teaching experience at a community college.
    • Experience completing reports for regional accreditation purposes.
    • Ability to communicate in a language in addition to English.

    Additional Information:

    POSITION STATUS: This is a full-time, non-unit position with benefits, some nights and weekends required.

    WORK SCHEDULES: Monday-Friday, mix of availability from 7:30 am-5:30 pm

    SALARY:   Minimum hiring salary $117,967.94 - 130,214.53; actual salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
