Summary
The Project Manager provides effective leadership and management for project delivery. This position is the primary representative of the firm and is the most visible person to our clients and directly maintains effective positive business relationships.
This position ensures timely and quality performance by the project team while being responsible for all facets of project performance including engineering work, contract management, financial management (billing and project profitability) while effectively utilizing staff resources and delivering client satisfaction.
This position is responsible for developing new business, either by selling additional services to existing clients, pursuing new projects with new and existing clients as well as pursuing new clients, networking with others about sales opportunities, and collaborating with marketing department. It is expected that this Position would generate new business opportunities equivalent to sustain their position.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
General Duties
• Is the primary contact between the firm and the client. Works effectively as a member of the project team, with the client, and with other parties to deliver a project fulfilling our scope of work with appropriate financial results and client satisfaction.
• Reviews project contracts for proper scope of work, fees, and reimbursables. Reviews terms and conditions for impact on project execution.
• Coordinates with client, external project team members, and the firm's team. Manages our work in conjunction with the needs of others and project requirements.
• Assesses changes in work requirements, schedules, and impacts to EEI’s scope of work. Presents and negotiates related fee changes.
• Refines and adjusts project work plan based on schedule and scope constraints.
• Leads all efforts on the assigned project. Assembles proper EEI project team from available resources as coordinated with Supervisor based on the specific needs of the project and assigns duties to specific team members.
• Procures, negotiates, and manages the work of sub-consultants, sub-contractors, and contract personnel necessary to execute scope requirements.
• Is accountable for fulfilling contractual obligations while maintaining responsibility for project profitability.
• Monitors project status and approves client invoicing.
• Is responsible for meeting internal and external deadlines.
• Keeps Supervisor informed of project progress.
• Manages difficult client situations to the satisfaction of the client with support of Supervisor.
• Manages project close-out documentation and activities.
• Contributes to workload planning and scheduling.
• Participates in employee reviews for project support personnel.
• Prepares reports, plans, and specifications with support of EEI technical staff.
• This Position may execute all technical aspects of the project independently, including field activities. For projects that require additional staff to achieve the schedule, this Position will rely on others in the organization.
• This Position may utilize other technical support personnel directing those efforts.
• Collaborates with Supervisor to identify ways to improve efficiency and productivity of EEI workforce through better organization, application of technical skills, and use of common sense and good judgment without compromising quality or required scope deliverables.
Business Development
• Leads activities in preparation of proposals. Establishes project financial and budgets before presentation of proposal. Develops and negotiates fees with the assistance of Supervisor.
• Identifies opportunities for providing additional services to existing clients while managing current projects.
• Supports others responding to a Request for Proposal or a Request for Qualifications.
• Develops new clients with support of Supervisor.
• Supports the firm's business development and sales activities.
• Presents or assists with the presentation of proposal.
• Negotiates final fee for base scope of work and subsequent change orders with the assistance of Supervisor.
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline. May substitute technical experience for education including a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, with emphasis on HVAC and control systems.
• Demonstrated ability to successfully manage projects.
• Strong communication (written and oral) skills. Strong technical writing skills.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and planning abilities
• Ability to work independently or as part of a project team with limited supervision

• PE Registration
• Relevant technical certifications or licenses from organizations such as USGBC, AABC, NEBB, TABB, PMI, AEE and BCxA.
• Experience in testing, adjusting, and balancing; controls; MEP and controls system design; energy auditing; energy savings calculations; energy modeling; cost estimation; economic analysis; and/or construction analysis; and/or construction.
Physical Abilities:
The work environment characteristics and physical demands described are representative of those an employee may encounter in a normal office setting and a construction work site. The work environment of typical office environment requires sitting for long periods and working with computers and other office equipment. The work environment for a construction site visit is physically active and may require significant amounts of standing, walking, squatting, stooping, reaching, and climbing (i.e., ladders) in the field.
Fieldwork will require employee to have mobility, a good sense of balance, manual dexterity and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. The physical abilities must be met to perform the essential functions of this job.
