Position Overview:
PPSE is seeking a skilled and experienced Accounting Manager with experience in non-profit accounting. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing day to day financial operations in the finance department. He/she will ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable rules, laws and regulations. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and supervises all finance department personnel. A strong Senior Accountant looking to move up would be ideal.
Responsibilities:
Financial Management: Oversees all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Monitor financial performance against budgets and forecasts and provide analysis and recommendations to support decision-making.
Audit and Compliance: Coordinate annual financial audits and other reviews, including preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and grant requirements, including Uniform Guidance (2 CFR 200). Respond to auditor inquiries and implement audit recommendations as needed.
Grants Management: Manage financial aspects of grants and contracts, including budget development, reporting, and compliance. Work closely with programmatic and development teams to ensure accurate and timely reporting to funders. Monitor grant spending and revenue recognition to ensure alignment with grant requirements and organizational goals.
Financial Planning and Analysis: Provide financial analysis and modeling to support strategic planning, program evaluation, and decision-making. Develop financial forecasts and projections to inform budgeting and resource allocation decisions. Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies in financial operations.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s or master's degree in accounting is required. CPA is a plus. Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting with at least 2 years of it in a non-profit organization is required. Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAP and non-profit accounting standards. Experience with the Abila MIP financial management system is a plus. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret financial data and trends. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Commitment to PPSE’s mission and values.
