The Placer County multidisciplinary housing team seeks a full-time Housing Development Project Planner in its Economic Development Division of the County Executive Office. This is a senior-level planning position that supports a housing team that spans
several departments and performs a variety of housing functions. Over the past
20 years, the County and the former Redevelopment Agency have sponsored housing
efforts to provide assistance to over 600 affordable housing units, involving
both new construction and renovation projects. Current housing activities
include managing a housing loan and investment portfolio of more than $33
million dollars. The position includes project management of high-profile
housing developments, developing funding plans for county-led projects,
developing various agreements to partner with for-profit and non-profit housing
developers to build new affordable units, coordinating with regional housing
partners and stakeholders, supporting innovative housing programs to advance
the development of new multi-family housing products. Importantly, this
position serves on a team that provides critical advocacy to create affordable
housing opportunities throughout Placer County. The team member must have
strong collaboration skills and provide cross-cutting services with countywide
departments.

Perform a variety of highly responsible complex professional planning duties in the field of current and advance planning; assume a lead role over less experienced professional and technical staff; provide information and assistance to developers and the public on complex planning matters.
This is the advanced journey level class in the professional Planner series. Positions at this level are able to work independently and receive minimal supervision and assistance from management staff.
Positions at this level are distinguished from other positions within the professional planning series by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned including overseeing the activities associated with a variety of complex planning projects and related assignments.
Receives direction from supervisory or management staff as assigned.
May exercise direct supervision over less experienced professional, technical and clerical personnel.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible planning experience performing duties similar to those of an Associate Planner.
Training: Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in urban, regional or environmental planning, or a closely related field.
License or Certificate:
May need to possess a valid driver's license as required by the position. Proof of adequate vehicle insurance and medical clearance may also be required.
