The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading the supplier strategy for sourcing products and services. This role is expected to develop strategic business relationships with external suppliers and internal business leaders as well as other internal key stakeholders, lead contract negotiations, drive cost savings initiatives and implement strategic sourcing best practices.
Role specific responsibilities
· Ensure consistent purchasing methodologies and controllership per the corporate guidelines
· Consolidate information into clean and actionable reporting to monitor the progress of the team relative to key goals
· Delegate and/or manage key projects supporting the long-term procurement strategy of the business.
· Keep division informed, as appropriate, regarding market conditions, lead times, and shifts in pricing for materials and services
· Identify and implement material-related productivity opportunities for the division.
· Determine proper sources of supply for most economical purchase, and implement strategic plan for key supplier backups
· Partner with the Quality Assurance department to deliver Supplier scorecards and other monitoring/communication processes
· Supervise and mentor a team of purchasing specialists, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure high performance and productivity
· All other duties assigned, as appropriate
