Top Patient Care Services Executive directs, plans, develops, and implements patient care programs and services. Creates and implements policies and procedures for care delivery. Being a Top Patient Care Services Executive manages all clinical patient care functions including nursing services, and ancillary services such as radiology, laboratory, pharmacy, rehabilitation and social services. Monitors the performance of patient care services, benchmarks the performance against government agency standards, and implements changes as necessary. Functioning within the Health System’s mission, values, objectives, and policies and procedures the Unit Secretary / Patient Care Technician functions as a partner to the Registered Nurse to provide quality patient care. In addition, the Unit Secretary/PCT, communicates appropriately with patients, visitors, and personnel, and performs clerical tasks as requested. The necessary education to meet the essential job functions will be provided on an as needed basis. Competency will be assessed on an ongoing basis. This job is measured with age specific criteria. On call hours maybe required as needed.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent (e.g. GED) is required. Additional education in medical terminology and/or clerical skills is preferred. Must successfully complete LMHS Sec/PCT orientation program and demonstrate competency on all skills.
Licensure/Certification: Current BLS required.
Must be actively registered as an STNA in the State of Ohio; OR
As an RN student, have completed 2ndquarter or 1stsemester clinicals in a Nursing Associate’s Degree or diploma program or be a 2ndyear student in a B.S.N program; OR
As an LPN student, have completed2ndquarter or 1stsemester clinicals in a Licensed Practical Nurse Training Program.
Experience: Previous experience as a Patient Care Tech or Unit Secretary is preferred.
Skills: Must have excellent “customer service” skills, including the ability to exhibit patience and tact with all constituents including physicians, patients and associates. Must demonstrate flexibility with work schedule changes, be cooperative and collaborative, and have the documented ability to work with speed and proficiency while under stress.Must have basic computer skills and EMR (electronic medical records) experience. Must be able to print and write legibly and accurately. Possess the ability to calculate simple mathematics and follow instructions.
Must demonstrate ability to review patient charts; treatments, record and report symptoms, reactions, and changes in patient’s conditions monitoring verbal and non-verbal responses of seizures. Must demonstrate lifting ability including but not limited to assisting and maneuvering patients when required. Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity, frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, regularly throughout a regular work shift assisting in patients ADLS. Must have knowledge of isolation techniques to communicable diseases and/or bodily fluids. Must have knowledge in the different materials and equipment involved in applying and removing seizure pads and braces
