Patient Advocate Representative will ensure that all collection policies and procedures are applied to achieve maximum patient satisfaction in the accounts receivable process. Representative will interact with patients and families over the telephone to make a good faith effort to collect patient coinsurance/deductibles and all other out of pocket cost per the patient’s insurance carrier

Duties/Responsibilities:

• A thorough understanding of how group insurance works as it relates to patient cost share, deductibles, coinsurance and co-pays
• Interacts with patients over the telephone, email, mail, or fax to resolve issues regarding their financial responsibility (deductibles and coinsurance)
• Educates patients on their financial responsibility as it relates to services provided directly from their Insurance Carrier through a Verification of Benefits.
• Obtains secondary insurance information from patients, whenever applicable.
• Meet designated monthly goals based upon monies collected.
• Maintain and updates system daily with notes in patient accounts
• Maintain HIPAA compliance with every call.
• Understanding of Pay to Member policy for collections on any payments through Insurance paid directly to Insurance Carrier.
• Collections experience preferred
• Must have experience working in the Substance Abuse field.
• Experience using Microsoft products such as Excel, Outlook, Word, etc.

Understand, support and comply with policies, procedures and internal controls in accordance with best business practices across the organization.

Eligible for a monthly commission based on performance

Education and/or Experience

High school graduate or equivalent; experience in medical collections and/or medical billing preferred; Strong customer service skills, attention to detail and oral communication skill a must.
