    Responsible for evaluating, developing, coordinating, and conducting organizational training activities and programs that support City of Denton initiatives.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    DUTIES
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to conduct a thorough training needs assessment and identify gaps.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand specific department training needs.
    • Evaluate, develop, and/or update comprehensive training programs that align with organizational core values, goals, and key focus areas; integrate relevant policies and procedures, and test for knowledge retention, as appropriate.
    • Utilize various instructional techniques and formats, including but not limited to, workshops, seminars, and e-learning modules.
    • Conduct engaging and interactive training sessions ensuring content is relevant, effective, and applicable to their roles.
    • Adapt training methods to accommodate diverse learning styles and preferences.
    • Develop high-quality training materials to support effective knowledge transfer and retention, including but not limited to, presentations, handouts, and multimedia resources.
    • Manage all aspects of the Professional Development Committee, including planning objectives and development opportunities for committee members.
    • Manage all aspects of select signature training programs, including identifying participants and ensuring program completion.
    • Routinely assess training program effectiveness through feedback mechanisms; gather metrics, summarize results, and provide corrective action plans to leadership, as appropriate.
    • Stay up to date on industry trends, best practices, changes in human resources and/or in learning and development, Federal, State, and municipal laws and regulations to ensure training programs remain current and compliant.

    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or related field; and,
    • One (1) year experience Human Resources, Training and Development, Diversity and Inclusion,

    • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job. 
    REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES

    • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local Government laws and regulations.

    • Skill at the intermediate level with Microsoft Office 365 and other software systems necessary to complete work.
    • Skill in learning, developing, and implementing organizational structures, procedures, and technology.
    • Skill in analyzing and researching, to interpret and understand policies, laws, and regulations, and to provide workable recommendations and solutions to problems that maintain compliance.
    • Skill in judgment and creativity in decision-making; considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and select the most appropriate one.
    • Ability to gather and analyze data, draw conclusions, and present data and other information in a clear and logical manner.
    • Ability to organize and coordinate work, maintain attention to details and quality, and meet deadlines.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
    • Must have and maintain a valid Class “C” Driver’s License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class “C” driver’s license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
    • Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check.
    • Must attend and successfully complete the City’s Defensive Driving Course (DDC) as soon as possible after employment (if required to drive City vehicle or personal vehicle for City business).

    WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office and audio/visual equipment, including computer and peripherals.
    • Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; occasional stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
    • Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching.
    • Lifting: Lifting no more than 20 pounds and carrying up to 10 pounds.
    • Environment: Work in an office and classroom setting; occasionally requires irregular and/or prolonged hours.
    • Travel: Travel to City of Denton buildings and professional meetings as required.
    • Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position. Must be able to work after normal business hours and weekends, as needed. Must attend regularly scheduled and special trainings, meetings, and events.
