    Starting Salary: $70,488.02 - $77,563.20

    Position Status: Full Time

    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Executive Director of the Children’s Advocacy Center is responsible for implementing the overall mission and policies of the McLean County Children’s Advocacy Center/CASA program through the administration of office personnel, financial management, and interaction with related agencies. The Executive Director represents the Child Advocacy Center/CASA program in the community and assures effective working relationships among disciplines, agencies, and departments essential to the success of both programs.

    Work is performed in accordance with state statutes, guidelines, regulations, and county policies and procedures.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Coordinates, oversees and supervises the day-to-day programming and activities of the Children’s Advocacy Center/CASA program.
    • Manages all fiscal requirements for program budgets, grant writing, and expansion; prepares and manages all reporting responsibilities, including reports relating to grant projects.
    • Oversees and manages the growth and development of departmental programs.
    • Reports regularly on the agency’s activities and finances; develops and retains reporting statistics and data for the public.
    • Provides control and direction of the center's personnel functions. Trains, supervises and directs personnel performing their duties and conducts regular and timely performance evaluations.
    • Develops and maintains appropriate working relationships with the Children’s Advocacy Center of Illinois and Illinois CASA; obtains and maintains agency accreditation by the National Children’s Alliance and National Court Appointed Special Advocates.
    • Oversees all public relations efforts; attends community meetings to promote and inform the public about the programs.
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Preferred Education and Experience:

    Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Sociology, Social Work, or a related social services field and a minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in a leadership/management position with a children's social services or related agency or an equivalent combination of education and experience. In lieu of these aforestated qualifications, candidates with exceptional knowledge, skills, and relevant work experience may be considered.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:   

    • Knowledge of the Children’s Advocacy Center model.
    • Knowledge of the Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) program. 
    • Knowledge of the dynamics of child abuse and neglect.
    • Knowledge of the principles and practices of providing guidance and direction to staff.
    • Knowledge of the principles and practices of grant writing and administration.
    • Knowledge of local government operations, human resource-related programs, policies, plans, and modern office practices and procedures.
    • Skill in customer service and public relations.
    • Skill in community outreach.
    • Skill in problem-solving and teamwork.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Ability to maintain program records and prepare activity reports.
    • Ability to work with and maintain confidential information in an atmosphere of loyalty and trust.
    • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all strata of the population, the legal profession, branches of the criminal justice system, community service personnel, other employees, and supervisors.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other similar programs.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Requires mental acuity including the ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, the ability to express ideas by means of the spoken word and possess close visual acuity.
