Top Tier Federal Credit Union, one of Pennsylvania’s leading credit unions, has an immediate opening for a Mortgage Loan Clerk at our Clarion location, 144 Holiday Inn Road, Clarion, PA 16214.
Starting Salary: $17.00 per hour Incentives. Wage increase commensurate with experience.
The successful candidate will go through a 90-day probationary period. During this period, both the candidate and Top Tier Federal Credit Union will determine the candidate’s ability to perform the requirements of the job.
The Mortgage Loan Clerk will provide operational support to the Mortgage Department in addition to various departments of the Credit Union. The ideal candidate will assist with preparation of mortgage files, be knowledgeable in mortgage regulations and facilitate real estate closings with appraisers, attorneys and closing agents. Skills required for this position include strong communication, strong organization, initiative, attention to detail, computer skills, leadership, excellent customer service, ability to work independently and in a team environment, strong problem-solving skills, good listener, knowledge of mortgage loan products and ability to abide by regulatory requirements and promote compliance.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
· High School Diploma or GED (required), post-secondary education (preferred)
· At least 3-5 years experience in mortgage lending or related field
· Ability to remain stationary for 50% of the time and moving about in an office environment to access forms, printers, etc.
· Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
· Knowledge of mortgage lending compliance and timing requirements
· Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while meeting internal and external deadlines
· Proficient computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe
· Ability to register with National Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) upon hiring
Duties and Responsibilities
· Assist Mortgage Loan Officers with facilitating and coordinating real estate closings
· Review and process mortgage loan applications and conduct loan interviews with members
· Meet borrower needs by accurately determining best lending options and solutions
· Provide all applicable disclosures for all mortgage loan types
· Order and perform quality control review of appraisals for mortgage and HELOC loans
· Perform quality control review of mortgage loan files
· Analyze credit reports and personal financial information to determine credit worthiness
· Order flood verification and properly identify if a property is or is not in a flood zone
· Accurately request and review title reports
· Review homeowners insurance policies
· Establish and effectively manage repayment and interest schedule based upon loan guidelines
· Become familiar with rate pricing process and accurately determine and quote rate information
· Manage and make rate pricing recommendations based upon market factors
· Maintain mortgage loan files including internal and external customer requests and/or questions
· Build mortgage loans on core system
· Scan documents to imaging system
· Handle escrow analysis, statements, and disbursements
· Prepare, record and file satisfaction pieces for mortgage and HELOC loans
· Manage adverse action and withdrawn loan files
· Obtain required documentation from Mortgage Loan Officers, borrowers, and external agents
· Maintain a high level of confidentiality
· Become an expert in mortgage regulations, compliance, and all other mortgage related items
· Other duties as assigned
