    Business leader needed for 7-Eleven’s Mergers & Acquisitions/Acquisition Integration (M&A/AI) team, who is creative and strategic.  The 7-Eleven M&A/AI team’s mission is to accelerate 7-Eleven’s store development in North America and support 7-Eleven International in growth outside North America and to directly assist in 7-Eleven’s transformation and growth through utilizing acquisitions and strategic transactions to accelerate change and growth in its in-store, digital and service product offerings, as well as the technology and/or processes to support such business, product and services development (e.g. Delivery and Store Innovation).

     

    The Director will be a key member of the overall M&A/AI leadership team and assume a leadership role on individual product and project teams for transactions. As a leader, he/she will need to lead the M&A/AI team members, as well as members from cross-functional teams as needed on each project, to appropriately evaluate, analyze, value and negotiate the transaction.  The ability to creatively solve problems and manage the team strategically to negotiate and consummate transactions that are accretive to the Company’s financial and non-financial goals will be key to being successful in this role.  This leader will need to internalize and utilize the 7‑Eleven Values and Leadership Principles supported by strategic, big-picture and non-linear thinking to move quickly and decisively.

     

    A successful director in M&A/AI will Hypercommunicate, Coach & Develop and Simplify.  He/She will be a humble team leader, hungry for growth and people smart.  In doing so, this leader will help drive many projects and product teams across multiple functions that accelerate and challenge 7‑Eleven’s growth initiatives for store and non-store development plans.

    Responsibilities

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Quickly analyze and evaluate opportunities before dedicating team resources to an opportunity
    • Lead team to develop detailed acquisition site assessments and characterizations for each site
    • Provide clear intent to team and the foundation for setting economic assumptions for investment modeling
    • Determine key drivers for a successful transaction based on appropriate cross-functional input from internal and external stakeholders and experts
    • Develop cross functional buy-in to final model assumptions; lead cross-functional/senior meetings up to Board level for engagement, evaluation and approval
    • Be able to interface with all levels of the organization and parent company (Seven-Eleven Japan & Seven & i Holdings)
    • Review and approve pro-forma and valuation models for acquisition opportunities
    • Coordinate scenario and sensitivity analyses to further analyze strategic investment decisions
    • Develop a letter of intent with the Legal department and submit valuation and deal terms to seller/target/broker
    • Negotiate LOI/Purchase Agreement; lead Due Diligence/Planning/Acquisition Integration:
      • Lead negotiation of final sales and purchase agreement.
      • Head post signing diligence effort, including environmental, gas and store equipment, etc.
      • Coordinate and provide leadership to integration of stores from change in control to full conversion and operation as a core 7-Eleven store or wholesale operation
    • Prospect and build a pipeline of potential acquisitions for c-store chains in current and new markets and cultivate relationships across the c-store industry and related investment banks and brokers
    • Communicate at an executive level (including Senior Leadership Team/Executive Committee and Board of Directors) at meetings through presentations (PowerPoint decks) and orally
    • Coach and develop the M&A/Acquisition Integration team at all levels; the team works in “Deal Teams” (not the customary reporting hierarchy)
    • Support 7-Eleven International in M&A/Acquisitions Integration outside of North America and potential investments/joint ventures in new market entries
    • Work with Digital, Business Development/Store Innovation and other department teams to prospect, evaluate and analyze prospective early stage or start‑up companies for strategic ventures that could include material investments, joint ventures, partnerships and/or acquisitions
      • Lead cross-functional analysis of goals and potential acceleration of such strategic plans through structured transactions
      • Analyze financials and potential operations of prospective partners and be a key member of leadership team determining the potential for a transaction and structuring and leading such transaction negotiation and integration
      • Develop and cultivate strategic relationships with bankers, private equity, venture capital firms, accelerators and start-ups/early-stage companies

     


    Qualifications

     

    Preferred Education: Bachelors/4 Year Degree in Business or related field

    Preferred Experience: At least 10 years Finance, M&A, Private Equity/Investment Banking, or similar experience

    Preferred Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the C-Store Industry and Retail; other applicable business experience
