JOB SUMMARY:
Douglas ESD is seeking an energetic, organized, effective leader with excellent people skills to oversee and coordinate the early childhood programs. This is a full-time, advanced management position that requires independent judgment, initiative, creativity and flexibility. It requires someone with expertise in early childhood education and management, and leadership.
The Executive Director of Early Learning at Douglas ESD is the executive administrator for all birth through age five educational and family partnership programming. Current programs include Early Intervention (EI), Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE), South - Central Early Learning Hub, Childcare Resource & Referral System (Care Connections), and the Parenting Hub (Take Root Parenting Connection) and Business Champions for Kids.
As a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet, the Executive Director will ensure high levels of collaboration amongst and between departments, effectively communicate with staff, family, community and school district stakeholders, and ensure program resources and improvement efforts are aligned to meet the Board adopted goals for Douglas ESD.
DUTIES:

- Directly supervise and support program administrators across multiple sites and program areas.
- Align early childhood programs to maximize impact for families within the service area.
- Develop relationships and methods to integrate community partners, early learning providers and state offices into a more seamless continuum of service that makes early childhood services accessible for traditionally underserved persons.
- Lead coordination efforts across EI/ECSE, South -Central Early Learning Hub, Parenting Hub, and the Childcare Resource & Referral programs.
- Support school districts in Douglas County in building childcare and preschool programs.
- Communicate with business, industry, government partners regarding the importance of early childhood education to the community.
- Advocate for resources from foundations, state government, federal government and others in an effort to build a robust system of supports for children, families and school districts within the service region.
- Leverage existing and potential resources to increase access and quality in Early Childhood Programs with a specific focus on children from historically marginalized communities.

- Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree preferred in Early Childhood Education, Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, Organizational Leadership or related field.
- Minimum of 5 (five) years successful experience managing people, programs, and services in the field of Early Childhood, Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education, Special Education, and/or K-12 Education or non-profit.
- Knowledge of best and developing trends, policies, and practices of birth through five education programming.
- Knowledge of continuum of services for children, birth through five, under the mandates of state and federal law.
- Strategic and tactical systems thinker who can chart a course to achieving organizational goals and adapt to change throughout the journey while ensuring others are coming along in the process.
- Expert demonstration and knowledge in several or all areas of the position.
