Develops and implements inventory tools and systems for tracking, analysis, auditing, and reporting. Additionally, Top Inventory Control Executive collaborates with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to identify and prioritize initiatives to optimize inventory capabilities and develop best inventory management practices. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Top Inventory Control Executive manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. - Compiles data from sources such as contracts, purchase orders, invoices, requisitions, and accounting reports. Writes, types, or enters information into computer to maintain inventory, purchasing, shipping, or other records.
- Keeps back order file in established sequence and releases back orders for issue or shipment as stock becomes available.
- Compiles stock control records and information such as consumption rate, characteristics of items in storage, and current delivery conditions, to determine stock supply and need for replenishment.
- Prepares requisitions, orders, or other documents for purchasing or requisitioning new or additional stock items.
- Compares nomenclature, stock numbers, authorized substitutes, and other listed information with catalogs, manuals, parts lists, and similar references to verify accuracy of requisitions and shipping orders.
- Prepares daily management reports on requests, inventory control and specific area status’ for budget execution.
- Reviews files to determine unused items and recommends disposal of excess stock.
- Answers phone calls and assists customers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- High school education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
