    The South Dakota Department of Health is looking for an individual who has excellent interpersonal skills and can successfully manage the Board of Pharmacy and its duties, staff, and functions to protect the public health of the patients and customers of pharmacists and pharmacies.

    Licenses and Certifications:
    Must be a licensed or eligible for licensure as a pharmacist in the State of South Dakota.

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
    The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal, written, computer, public speaking, and law interpretation abilities in working with the Board of Pharmacy.

    The successful candidate will have significant knowledge of SD and Federal laws and rules for pharmacists, pharmacies, interns, technicians, and wholesale distributors and the licensure of each. The candidate must be able to direct the administration of the Board's licensing responsibilities, complaint investigations, supervisory functions, expenditures and collections of revenue.

    Must have the Ability to:

    • interpret, implement, and administer federal and state laws and regulations;
    • establish goals and priorities;
    • investigate and resolve complaints against licensees and registrants;
    • represent board at national and regional meetings;
    • research/analyze national trends and technologies to enhance capacity of Board to serve public;
    • establish and maintain effective relationships with the Board, staff, licensees, and others;
    • communicate clearly and concisely orally and in writing;
    • hire and supervise board staff;
    • prepare and monitor annual operating budgets and project future revenues and expenditures; and
    • keep accurate records and prepare reports as directed by the Board and the Department of Health.

    This position is eligible for Veterans’ Preference per ARSD 55:10:02:08.
