Being a Top Government Affairs Executive (Federal Level) directs ongoing monitoring and analysis of proposed legislation, emerging issues, and trends to determine the potential impact on the organization. Collaborates with industry groups and organizations with complementary objectives to achieve objectives. Additionally, Top Government Affairs Executive (Federal Level) creates communication vehicles and delivers messaging to inform and support business leaders. Requires a bachelor's degree in public policy, public administration, business or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Top Government Affairs Executive (Federal Level) manages a business unit, division, or corporate function with major organizational impact. Master's Level Mental Health Intern

  • Under direct supervision, is responsible for developing the knowledge and skills associated with entry level positions in the human services field. 
     (Essential function, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics.  This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not a comprehensive listing of all functions and tasks performed by positions in this class.)
     
    • Provide closely supervised intermediate-level care and counseling services to inmates within scope of authority.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality in all inmate matters.
    • Interview inmates with psychological instability and behavioral health issues; observe inmates’ conditions and behavior; develop behavioral health assessments.
    • Consult with supervisors as needed; collaborate with other professionals to provide and advocate for continued care outside the limitations of the facility. 
    • Update and maintain a variety of inmate records; document activities as required.
    • Explains nature of Sheriff’s Department programs, procedures, and services to inmates.
    • Adheres to the standards of the Privacy Act of 1974, {U.S.C. § 552A} as amended; and the American Counseling Association 2014 Code of Ethics, maintains and enforces all aspects of confidentiality of inmates’ information. 
    • Participate in training offered by mental health staff and deputies as assigned.
    • Perform various office duties. 
    • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
    Bachelor’s degree; AND be enrolled in a CACREP accredited Master of Counseling program.  One year of human service work experience preferred; must pass a thorough background investigation. 
     Knowledge and Skills:
    • Knowledge of County policies and procedures.
    • Knowledge of biological, behavioral, and environmental aspects of suicidality, emotional disturbances, mental disability, developmental disability, and substance abuse.
    • Knowledge American Counseling Association 2014 Code of Ethics.
    • Knowledge of biological, behavioral, and environmental aspects of suicidality, emotional disturbance, mental disability, developmental disability, and substance abuse.  
    • Knowledge of protocols and practices in behavioral healthcare, and principles of psychotherapeutic techniques and procedures, including the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM-V-TR)
    • Knowledge of evidence-based counseling techniques and procedures, trends and practices in mental health assessment, and legal, ethical, and professional rules of conduct.
     
    • Skill in staying calm while working with people in crisis.
    • Skill in effectively communicating verbally and in writing.
    • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with public officials, outside agencies, County staff and the general public while dealing with sensitive information.
    • Skill in operating a personal computer and utilizing a variety of software applications.
