Additionally, Top Government Affairs Executive (Federal Level) creates communication vehicles and delivers messaging to inform and support business leaders. Requires a bachelor's degree in public policy, public administration, business or equivalent. Typically reports to top management.   • General Description:

    The Government Affairs Summer intern will be responsible for supporting the Government Affairs group and Eastern U.S. Development project teams. This role will support the department by drafting and aggregating data for internal and external white paper research, preparing written testimony and documents for local government and stakeholder presentations, and assisting with legislative bill tracking and advocacy coordination. This role will also work with project development teams to facilitate local government engagement, supporting public hearing preparation and project and community stakeholder engagement (including local chambers of commerce, trade organizations and issue advocacy groups). There may be travel opportunities during the internship to other EDPR offices or to project communities, pending available budget and scheduling logistics.

     

    This is a paid 10-week, full-time internship that will start on or around June 2024, with an end date in August 2024.

     

    Main Accountabilities:

    • Support government affairs initiatives regarding state policy research and analysis, data aggregation and analysis for external stakeholder groups, and local regulation and ordinance review to support project permitting engagements.
    • Assist with internal document review and reorganization to support department efficiencies.
    • Coordinate engagement with external stakeholders to support public testimony campaigns for project permitting and other public hearings.
    • Assist government affairs staff supporting project teams in local public engagements and hearings.
    • Review and analyze local regulatory and political factors and provide feedback for project development site communities.
    • Analyze and assist in drafting and executing political action committee fundraising initiatives.
    • Draft, review and provide feedback for existing corporate external information and promotional materials, including state and project fact sheets and policy-specific one-pagers.
    • Perform other related duties and special projects as required.
     
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Must be a rising Junior or Senior in college or enrolled in a post-secondary graduate program pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business, Political Science, Pre-Law, Public Relations, Environmental Science or a related field. Candidates pursuing a post-secondary degree will also be considered.
    • Work experience in a related field is preferred; previous experience in a legislative or regulatory position is a plus.
    • Must have a valid Driver’s License.

    • Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 25 pounds
    • Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
    • Safety: Ability to understand and communicate safety precautions when necessary
