  • Position Information Location: Binghamton, NY Pay Range: $122,000 - $153,000 Schedule: Hybrid Scope of Work - The Manager, Electric Supply is responsible for managing all facets of a 7.9 TWh electric supply portfolio for NYSEG/RGE. This position manages the electric supply activities including pricing; financial position management and hedging; physical energy and capacity procurement; wholesale sales; load scheduling; and risk management. Also responsible for annual supply budgeting, variance reporting and planning, regulatory compliance, ISO/RTO issues, and contract negotiation and execution for all electric supply related activities. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and implement strategies to effectively procure and hedge company energy positions within risk management guidelines, rate plans and budget targets. Identify strategies and/or structured transactions to minimize costs or produce profit to meet the supply procurement goals. Ensure all aspects of company operations are in compliance with ISO/RTO market requirements and that such markets are monitored for changes and impact to operations. Follow all aspects and comply with the ISO/RTO energy, capacity, and transmission requirements. Manages electricity price offer and rate development activities in compliance with risk mangement and department policies. Execute the purchase, and sale of, capacity and/or environmental attributes while complying with company’s guidelines and/or policies. Ensure negotiated contracts and confirmations reflect company policies and industry standards through discussions with legal counsel and negotiations with counterparties. Ensure compliance with all hedging/billing/procurement policies and/or procedures. Oversee accurate budget development and variance reporting. Assists the Senior Director – Energy Services in preparing budgets, developing responses, and completing other assigned tasks. Participate in supply-related regulatory proceedings, as required. Participation may include providing oral or written testimony, written affidavit support, or data-related documents at regulatory hearings, legal proceedings, or as part of a FERC-related reporting requirement. May perform other duties as assigned. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Education & Experience Required: This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college/university in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering or an equivalent discipline. A Master’s Degree is preferred. Additionally, this position requires at least 7 years of experience in wholesale market transactions, including contract negotiation and administration, ISO/RTO operations, and at least 3 years of experience in the following areas: Supervisory role Experience in wholesale commodity acquisition and supply. Similar experience with corporate purchasing and contract management, energy accounting and/or experience with SAP functions related to purchasing, supply management and accounting may be partially substituted for experience with wholesale commodity markets Operational and economic characteristics of power plants Risk Management Techniques Fundamental and Technical Analysis Skills/Abilities: Advanced knowledge of commodity transactions. Advanced knowledge of ISO/RTO Operations and Markets, including electric energy and capacity markets. Advanced problem solving, analytical, and decision making skills. Able to analyze complex information, distill salient items and create appropriate action plans. Advanced Microsoft Office suite experience including MS Excel and Access Strong ability to work collaboratively and to lead a team to develop and implement risk mitigation strategies. Must be highly organized, self-directed, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities and deliverables to successful completion. Strong organizational, communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and influencing skills. Strong knowledge of financial analysis and spreadsheets. Strong Team Leadership.
