Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager to join our team. As an HSE Manager, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of health, safety, and environmental tasks to achieve compliance with Birla Carbon's internal standards, best management practices, and local regulatory requirements and drive a zero-incident culture. Plays an active role in the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental, safety, and health programs, systems, and procedures necessary to provide for a safe and healthy work environment for our employees while minimizing environmental impacts.
-Follow up all applicable governmental health, safety and environmental legislative requirements and implement necessary actions for compliance. Operate the site in a safe and responsible manner, ensuring health, safety and environmental protection is a key priority. Manage the duties and tasks related to health, safety, and environmental management within the site.
- Provide continuous improvement by leading the development, implementation and maintenance of health, safety, and environmental programs, systems and procedures. Ensure utilization of HSE systems.
- Ensure that all levels of employees and other site users are fully aware of their health, safety and environmental responsibilities. Develop training programs and organize HSE trainings as required. Design and lead internal HSE audits. Lead risk assessments and incident investigations.
- Determine and organize health, safety, and environmental monitoring record keeping and report writing. Maintain HSE action plans and follow up status. Organize and lead HSE committee meetings. Ensure PPE availability for all required tasks.
- Implement HSE awareness programs. Maintain and improve Near Miss reporting. Lead by Example.
- Monitor workers' compensation claims and work with insurance providers to ensure timely processing
- Fabricate reports on safety performance, incidents, and compliance for management review- Stay current with changes in environmental, health, and safety regulations
- Bachelor's degree in a safety related field preferred
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification preferred
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and Workers Compensation laws
- Strong understanding of EPA regulations related to hazardous materials management
- Proficient in report writing and data analysis
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively train employees on safety protocols
- First Aid/CPR certification is a plus- Experience in training development is highly desirable
