Top Domestic Ethics & Compliance Executive develops, directs, and promotes the organization's global ethics and compliance function. Designs and develops programs to assess and manage legal and regulatory compliance risks and to establish high ethical standards of conduct for the organization. Being an Top Domestic Ethics & Compliance Executive ensures that policies reflect domestic and international legal requirements and industry-specific codes governing ethical standards and comply with transparency reporting requirements. Communicates the organization's ethical standards with messaging and deliver employee training programs that raise awareness about ethics-related topics such as Anti-Bribery, Anti-Corruption, Antitrust, Conflicts of Interest, and others. Additionally, Top Domestic Ethics & Compliance Executive monitors compliance with policies and investigates and remediates any non-compliant actions. Responsible for maintaining confidential reporting systems allowing employees, customers, contractors, and other stakeholders to disclose violations of the organization's ethical standards, violations of law, or policies without fear of retaliation. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. May require the Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP)certification. Typically reports to top management. The Top Domestic Ethics & Compliance Executive manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Top Domestic Ethics & Compliance Executive typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     Summary

    The Director, Ethics and Compliance is a strategic business partner responsible for managing ethics and compliance for TravelCenters of America, including risk assessment, reporting and mitigation activities of ethics and compliance risks, etc. As the primary business touchpoint for ethics and compliance inquiries, this individual is effective in partnering with and influencing senior leaders in terms of opinion, advice, ethical dilemmas and providing solutions. They are key in promoting ethics and compliance, code of conduct, and speak up culture. The Director, Ethics and Compliance helps ensure we are returning every traveler to the road better than the came.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Lead, promote, and ensure bp’s safety, risk, and compliance culture and expectations are met. Prioritize safety in all aspects of the role and support the Believe in Zero safety philosophy.
    • Act as the single business touchpoint for ethics and compliance enquiries and advice; and the concerns management and investigations process.
    • Ensure ethics and compliance risks are identified, assessed and monitored utilizing the approach laid out in the Ethics and Compliance Risk Management Guide.
    • Working with enabling functions (e.g. HR, ethics and compliance and legal), at least twice a year, report on trends and key issues (e.g. concerns, investigations, discipline, etc.) to the business/function/region leadership team.
    • Support and assist in the implementation of ethics and compliance requirements, training, and communications as further detailed below. Support the annual assignment of ethics and compliance learning and track completion of required training.
    • Incorporate ethics and compliance into communications plans. Help leadership develop ethics and compliance related communications for: town-halls, newsletters, code certification process, etc.
    • Assist efforts to promote a speak up culture. Acts as the speak up channel, partners with the business on concerns, partners with HR on appropriate course of action. Ensure concerns are managed and investigated in accordance with the concerns management and business integrity investigations policy and procedure policy.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree is required; Advanced degree preferred.
    • 7 years of relevant work experience i.e. in ethics and compliance, risk management and mitigation, etc.
    • Able to evaluate the impact of changes in codes, policies, regulations or standards and develops recommended positions to meet commercial, reputational and regulatory challenges
    • Able to influence senior leaders in terms of opinion, advice, ethical dilemmas and provide solutions.
    • Able to maintain a level of independence when speaking up, in a measured manner, when there are risks to the company’s reputation or regulatory compliance
    • Able to lead and supervise the development and implementation of ethics and compliance strategies, plans and programs
    • Strong strategic skills and well-developed business acumen
    • Proficient in analyzing data and discerning trends and themes
