    If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Information Technology Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Southern District of Florida, located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Miami, Florida, focusing in the areas of customer support, I.T. systems/network administration, information systems security, and litigation support services.

    Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.

    Typical work assignments will include:

    • Performing work designed to support the Information Technology Help Desk.
    • Assisting in the installation, configuration, and upgrading of commonly used hardware and software systems.
    • Resolving recurring software/hardware problems for which precedents exists.
    • Providing user training and assistance on routine hardware, software, and internet applications.
    • Maintaining and controlling IT systems security documentation and equipment inventories.

    You must have have information technology related experience demonstrating each of the four required competencies:
    1) Attention to Detail - Follow technical documentation methods and procedures.

    3) Oral Communication - Expresses technical information to nontechnical individuals or groups effectively. AND

    To qualify at the GS-07 level, you must possess:

    Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) the duties listed below:
    • Providing routine support for computer information systems; and
    • Troubleshooting routine and/or recurring hardware and software problems.
    OR Possess one full year of graduate education in a closely related field (e.g., computer science, information systems management, technology management), or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.

    OR (Superior Academic Achievement) - A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management, or a degree that provided 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks, and meet at least one of the following criteria: class standing in the upper third of the graduating class; an overall GPA of 3.0 OR at least a 3.0 based on courses completed during the final two years of my curriculum; a GPA of at least 3.5 based on the average of required courses completed in my major field OR based on the average of required courses completed during the final two years of my curriculum; or election to membership on a national scholastic honor society.

    To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must possess:

    Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service performing (3) of the (4) (obtained in either the public or private sectors) duties listed below:
    • Providing customer support for computer information systems;
    • Troubleshooting recurring hardware and software problems;
    • Using computer software applications to provide reports or presentations; and
    • Providing user training on hardware, software and/or internet applications support to staff.
    OR Possess a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree in computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management or degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.
