    The Compensation & Benefits Specialist directs the planning, administration, and implementation of all compensation and benefit programs and policies, as well as acts as the primary catalyst in the establishment of corporate short and long-range objectives regarding employee compensation and benefits programs.

    Responsibilities of this position include:

    • Develops and monitors compensation and benefit programs, which provide value to employees, are cost-effective for Fort HealthCare, meet defined objectives and create a culture of service excellence.
    • While providing corporate oversight, oversees the daily activities associated with managing the programs focused on compensation (including payroll system) and benefits. Works closely with vendors to ensure quality and timeliness of services.
    • Analyzes data to determine the effectiveness of plans. Evaluates through benchmarking and various feedback mechanisms whether programs have validity and purpose. Recommends changes to ensure strategic alignment of the organization’s compensation and benefits objectives and competitive position in the marketplace.
    • Monitors and evaluates existing benefit programs, including self-insured and fully insured insurance programs, 401(k) plan, leave and time off policies, ensuring that all programs are current, and competitive with regards to trends, practices, and costs.
    • Develops the compensation and benefits manpower, operating and capital budgets and works within budget guidelines.
    • Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, oversee and facilitate annual wage and salary plan adjustments and implements adjustments as appropriate.
    • Responsible in communicating delicate information to all levels of leadership and provide supportive data to initiate discussions / changes / enhancements for employees.
    • Responsible for Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) administration for Fort HealthCare and Fort Medical Group. Advises and counsels employees on procedures.
    • Design communication programs to increase perceived value of programs and ensure appropriate understanding by employees. Direct preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform employees of benefits, compensation, and personnel policies.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Completes department-specific orientation and annual competencies for this position.

    Requirements for this position include:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Five years prior benefits experience required (health care setting preferred) with extensive competencies on benefit analysis models, a tactical understanding of survey’s, compensation and benefit studies, and a thorough understanding of the data needed in these resources to develop tailored compensation and benefit programs.
    • Strong communicative skills to respond to employee and public requests for information; tactful; courteous; good listening skills.
