HR Specialist - Compensation and Benefits

  • I. General Summary:  Support the daily administration of compensation and benefit programs and activities.  Lead or support the ongoing analysis, strategic design, development, and implementation of new and revised compensation and benefit programs and policies.       
    II. Essential Job Functions:  
    A. Responsible for supporting and administering compensation and benefit programs and providing support to field HR representatives at plant locations.
    B. Support the benefits and retirement programs plan administrator.
    1. Provide support for eligibility, claims, appeals, plan transactions, etc.
    2. Understand and explain general information about TBA benefits to team members and plant HR.
    3. Conduct new hire benefits orientations and maintain and update benefits material as directed.
    4. Provide support for all aspects related to the TBA annual enrollment process.
    5. Provide and send out proper documentation for medical support orders.
    6. Assist with vendor billing.
    7. Support monthly benefits reconciliation process.
    8. Assist in the administration of company leave of absence policies coordinated with an outsourced and centralized leave administration Third Party Administrator (TPA).
    C. Perform specialized technical tasks, such as benchmark evaluation and technical research. 
    1. Prepare reports, graphs, charts, and statistical analyses to support ongoing activities and proposals to HR, senior, and executive management.  
    2. May present or be present to support proposals to executive management.
    D. Ensure that compensation policies, practices, and procedures are administered properly and consistently.
    E. Administer job classification activities including classifying and reclassifying positions, job shadowing, and writing job descriptions. 
    F. Create salary proposals for internal and external Salaried team members, to ensure consistent compensation practices and internal equity.
    G. Troubleshoot, analyze and resolve compensation issues within Oracle (system of record).
    H. Administer annual compensation processes, to ensure market competitiveness and system accuracy.
    I. Follow safety, quality, confidentiality, and information security policies and procedures.
    III. Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: 
    Education: 
    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
    Designation as Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) preferred.
    Experience:
    Greater than four (4) years of relevant experience required.  Corporate and manufacturing setting experience preferred.
    Minimum of two (2) years of experience in administering benefit programs.
    Personal/Technical Skills:
    Strong attention to detail.
    Strong presentation and delivery skills.
    Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    Ability to create reports, business correspondence, and procedures.
    Ability to exercise exceptional independent judgment and discretion.
    Ability to communicate and work well with all levels of the organization.
    Ability to take initiative on assigned tasks without significant supervision.
    Be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters.
    Excellent project skills and ability to coordinate multiple projects and programs.
    Ability to compile effective and concise visual reports in charts, graphs, and table format. 
    Strong administrative, analytical, and organizational skills to be able to coordinate human resource activities and functions. 
    As unique situations present themselves, the incumbent must be sensitive to Toyota Boshoku America’s (TBA) needs, team member goodwill, and the public image.
    Thorough understanding and working knowledge of TBA’s organization, automotive plants and processes/principles, company products, trade terminology, manufacturing processes, tooling and equipment, and machine operation is a plus.
    Language Skills:
    Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
    Japanese, Spanish, and/or Portuguese would be helpful.
     
    Computer/Software:
    Advanced working knowledge of, and experience with, word processing, spreadsheet, electronic mail, database, desktop publishing, and presentation applications and/or software, preferably Microsoft Office.  
    Experience working with HRIS and other business enterprise systems.  Oracle experience preferred.
    IV. Work Environment/Conditions:
    Hybrid/Remote:  Open Office Environment, moderate noise level.
    Travel:  Must be willing to travel 0-10% of the time when necessary throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Japan, Argentina, and Brazil, although much of the travel will be domestic.
    V. Physical Demands:
    Ability to sit and work on a computer for extensive periods of time is required.  While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear.  The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time and is occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds.  The ability to travel by automobile and airplane are both required.
