FOX13 Memphis is looking for an Executive Producer to help lead our journalists!
At FOX13 Memphis, we serve our community with rigorous and responsible journalism. Our journalists focus on the systems and sociological factors that serve as barriers or tools to better our neighbors. Our Executive Producer for Morning News will shape that journalism. They will also shape the next generation of groundbreaking journalists. We are looking for a careful and confident coach. We are looking for a central voice who can take control during breaking news and tell stories soaked in context, perspective, and relevance. As Executive Producer at FOX13 you will set the editorial agenda in the Mid-South by shaping the journalism at the area’s real #1 news station. You will be leading a legacy. WHAT YOU WILL DO:
· Lead all editorial decisions for morning newscasts
· Oversee 5.5 hours of news daily
· Act as the last line of defense overseeing all journalism
· Aggressively chase and execute breaking news
· Coach producers to carefully craft journalism on all platforms
· Help lead morning editorial meetings, facilitating discussion and debate
· Focus morning reporter team to prioritize and execute enterprise journalism
· Understand our research and our community to prioritize the stories we cover
· Act offensively to win our weather story every morning
· Delegate and manage our biggest daypart leading: 3 reporters, 4 photojournalists, 2 anchors, 2 meteorologists, 3 digital content producers and 5 producers
· You are a newsroom leader. There will be other duties and expectations assigned
Requirements
· A minimum of 5 years professional experience in local TV news
· At least one year of news management experience
· Experience as a television gatekeeper
· Experience in digital journalism
· Be a kind and compassionate leader
· Must be thoroughly professional in all aspects of journalism
