This is a temporary, one year only position through June 30, 2023.
Job Summary: Develops the District’s digital and print publications including content creation, graphic art design, video and photography skills, and enhancing and creating multimedia projects in direct support of the District’s communication strategy. Supports indivdiual school social media platforms and creates and implements training for social media editors. Supports District departments and schools with internal and external communications, including social media and website training, content creation, layouts, and design. Ensures print and digital communications meet accessibility and quality assurance requirements and best practices.
Hourly rate: Grade 11, Step 1: $28.15
Work hours: 7.5 hours per day
Work year: 12 months
Retirement: State of Alaska PERS

Job Qualifications/Requirements (please review job description for qualifications and duties of the position:
- Minimum of 48 credit hours of post-secondary education required, preferably in the area of communications, marketing, design, or digital media. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
- Two (2) (or four (4), depending on education) years of experience required in layout and design of brochures, flyers and other print materials, and web page development and maintenance.
- Demonstrated experience in maintaining effective working relationships and providing exceptional customer service.
- Demonstrated skills in graphic design and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Excellent skills in the use of computer software, including word processing, spreadsheets, and desktop publishing; strong skills with e-mail, and web page support.
- Strong skills in organizing and maintaining accurate records and filing systems.
- Requires a high degree of organizational and proofreading skills in English.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite is required. Portfolio of design work in Photoshop, Illustrator, or InDesign
- Ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines; ability to communicate effectively in private and public settings; ability to work collaboratively with others; ability to meet deadlines and to flexibly reprioritize work as needed; to work independently with limited supervision; to identify and address school or department needs; and to maintain the confidentiality of records and oral information.
- Must have advanced attention to detail with the capability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
