Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Sr. SQL Server Database Developer with additional experience as an Application DBA to join our IT team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and managing SQL databases
while also overseeing the integration and functioning of these databases within our application environment.
This dual role requires a strong technical foundation in database structure, configuration, and tuning, as well as the ability to manage databases to support our application development.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop database structures, stored procedures, views, and functions to support application development projects.
Perform database administration tasks including installation, configuration, upgrades, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
Work closely with application developers to integrate SQL databases with existing and new applications, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
Implement and maintain database security measures, including access controls and encryption, to safeguard against unauthorized access or data breaches.
Conduct regular database maintenance tasks such as backups, restores, and integrity checks to ensure data accuracy and availability.
Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and apply fine-tuning adjustments to SQL queries and indices for enhanced efficiency.
Assist in capacity planning, SQL server layout, and configuration to support business scalability requirements.
Develop and enforce database development standards and best practices to ensure quality and consistency across the database environment.
Provide support and guidance during the application release cycle, including deployment and post-deployment activities.
Document the database environment and maintain up-to-date records of all the databases, including schema diagrams, system configurations, and backup schedules.
Qualifications:
Strong experience in SQL database development using T-SQL , including writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and optimization techniques.
Solid experience as an Application DBA, with hands-on experience in database administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting in a production environment.
Familiarity with SQL Server high availability and disaster recovery solutions such as clustering, log shipping, mirroring, or replication.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
