Additionally, Top Business Development Executive directs financial feasibility studies, development of proposals, and negotiations for new business opportunities. Collaborates with marketing, sales, product development, and other stakeholders to support business development plans. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to chief executive officer (ceo). Responsible for the development of functional or business unit strategy for the entire organization.     Possible Industry Experience/Target Markets: This company manufactures custom plastic solutions that could be appropriate for the following markets: Automotive, Medical, Construction, Lawn and Garden, Window/Door, Appliance, Consumer Products, Sporting Goods, Furniture, or other durable goods industries. Strong preference for existing familiarity with Automotive and Medical Device markets.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Grow company sales.
    • Approximately 90% of this person’s time will be spent developing new customers.
    • Approximately 10% of this person’s time will be spent growing current customers, working with existing reps on accounts that have reps.
    • Suggest marketing materials and ideas to help in the sales efforts.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 3 years' experience in an environment that would develop a technical understanding of plastics and/or extrusions, sufficient to understand the practical applications of engineered plastic extrusions, moldings, sheet, and other custom designed and manufactured parts. This is the basic qualification. This person will need to know at least some of the markets, clearly explain how custom plastics can be used in industry…and create a positive cost/benefit analysis to sell the idea to the customer.
    • 3 years of proven ability to successfully develop new clientele and grow sales in a custom-product environment; selling custom solutions as opposed to selling products.
    • 2 years' experience in a commissioned sales position, with a “hunter” mentality, and confidence in the ability to earn a significant portion of their wages in the form of commission.
    • Highly assertive, relentless sales personality and the proven ability to proficiently analyze, prepare presentations, and close multimillion-dollar growth opportunities.
    • 4-year technical degree preferred, but will consider a non-technical degree and great proven sales history in lieu of education, as long as you have sufficient extrusion technical knowledge to be effective in the role.
    • Prefer experience developing/managing manufacturers’ representatives in similar markets (not required).
    • Prefer experience developing proprietary products for new markets (not required)
