Top Accounting Executive provides technical and operational leadership across accounting functions. Develops and implements accounting policies and procedures that adhere to governmental financial and tax regulations and comply with GAAP and IFRS standards. Being a Top Accounting Executive operationalizes accounting systems and processes to deliver continuous improvements. Ensures accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and reporting. Additionally, Top Accounting Executive establishes internal auditing processes and coordinates external audits. Uses in-depth knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and best practices to develop accounting professionals. May require a master's degree in accounting or finance. We are a small tax and accounting firm in Virginia Beach, VA. We help all sized businesses with their accounting and payroll needs throughout the year, and provide personal, business, estate trust and non-profit tax services as well.
We are in need of someone who is experienced in corporate and personal tax preparation, preferably with 3 years experience in taxation & 2 years experience in accounting. A CPA, an EA, and/or a Registered Tax Preparer is a plus. You should have efficient computer skills, including being familiar with tax and accounting software. It is also a plus if you have worked with ProSeries and Sage 50 Accounting software.
We are seeking someone who is detail oriented, highly accurate, efficient, trustworthy, positive, and can work independently. Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, are also a necessity.
Duties may include, but are not limited to, preparing corporate and personal tax returns, researching tax laws, completing various accounting, payroll, and sales tax tasks, putting together new client accounts from start to finish, completing some administrative tasks, and corresponding with IRS and State government authorities.
During tax season, your work schedule may be 40 hours per week (Some Saturdays may also be required during tax season). Outside of tax season your hours may be lessened or on an as-needed basis. **Salary will be commensurate with experience and will be discussed in the interview process (negotiable) Please note the top of this pay range will be reserved for CPAs.** We are also open to a subcontractor on a part-time or as-needed basis for this role.
