Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor oversees skilled workers responsible for constructing, maintaining, modifying, and calibrating machine shop tools, dies, prototypes, jigs, fixtures and molds. Supervises the set up and operation of various lathes, grinders, milling, and boring machines used to produce tools. Being a Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor completes high level tool development work. Ensures jobs are completed correctly and on time. Additionally, Tool, Die, and Gauge Making Supervisor may require an associate degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Core Responsibilities- Optimization of processes and plant equipment:
- Inspects product process.
- Monitors details of every product being manufactured and ensures that the product is within the requirements of the governing specifications.
- Prepares Quality documentation and reports.
- Complete tasks as assigned with limited supervision.
- Proficient in the use of standard thread gauging devices.
- Inspect and document parts according to in-process inspection sheet requirements.
- Supports investigations of customer complaints or claims.
- Provide production support to the manufacturing line in all areas of the process as necessary.
- Document completion of all required processes by QMS system.
- Identifies continuous improvement opportunities to improve product quality and production.
- Demonstrate basic manufacturing line knowledge and participate in process improvement.
- Set up, verify calibration, and maintain good working condition of measuring equipment applicable to production requirements.
- Supports process improvement.
- Supports product/ process, internal and external audits.
- Determines system improvements; implements changes.
- Facilitates communication between Quality, Operations, and other departments as necessary.
- Supports the implementation of site safety culture.
- Communicates with Quality & other department personnel to ensure good two-way communication on Quality issues.
- Participate the execution of housekeeping programs required to ensure facility cleanliness.
- Provide end-of-shift report detailing activities of the shift.
Job Requirements:- Minimum 5 years’ experience industrial manufacturing and operational activities.
- At least 3 years of experience in manufacturing or related field is preferred.
- Preferably, a minimum of 2 years' experience on a Quality Control and/or Assurance function, at a seamless steel tube threading facility.
- Certified NDT Level I - UT, MPI, ET preferred.
- Knowledge of API / ASTM/ TS/ ISO standards and specifications is preferred.
- Must be able to manage all aspects of product inspection.
- Knowledge of SAP-QM and MES/AIP systems preferred.
