Tool Design Engineering Manager manages the design and development of tools and machinery to facilitate and optimize manufacturing processes. Leads design reviews to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans, and specifications. Being a Tool Design Engineering Manager provides expert input to resolve design issues and innovate solutions. Oversees the design, fabrication, sourcing, and procurement of fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools, carts, racks, and other items to support production. Additionally, Tool Design Engineering Manager ensures design documentation and models for the fabrication of tools are accurately prepared. Controls budgets, costs, resource allocation, and materials required for tools. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Tool Design Engineering Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Tool Design Engineering Manager typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. The Highway Design Project Manager leads project teams to solve our clients' most difficult highway and bridge design problems.     This position is available in Wichita, KS, Lawrence, KS, Topeka, KS, or Kansas City, KS.

    Position Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Determine project requirements, setting the project scope of work, determining design budgets, and reviewing contracts.
    • Manage multiple objectives from clients, stakeholders, contractors, third parties, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive solutions.
    • Develop design criteria and task lists for use by the Design Team. Design portion of project within transportation area of expertise and coordinate with Design Team to produce final construction documents.
    • Perform quality control reviews at appropriate milestones. Review documents for completeness and consistency with company and client standards.
    • Ensure project deliverables are of the highest quality, meet client expectations, and are delivered within agreed timelines and budgets.
    • Provide technical expertise and guidance to team members, promoting professional growth and knowledge sharing.

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Minimum of a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college
    • Minimum of five years' highway design project management experience
    • Professional Engineering Licensure in the state of Kansas.
    • Kansas DOT design project experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of current highway design criteria. Familiarity with current Kansas DOT standards and practices
    • Proficient use of Bentley Products, including Microstation and OpenRoads
    • Leadership skills with the ability to lead a design team to meet critical deadlines through efficient time management and effective communications.
    • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and effective communications.
