Job Summary: Design Engineering Manager
Aspen Aerials, a TIME Manufacturing Company, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Design Engineering Manager to lead and manage the design engineering team for our Under Bridge Inspection Units. The Design Engineering Manager will play a pivotal role in the development of innovative, safe, and high-quality Under Bridge Inspection Units. This position requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, team leadership, project management, and a commitment to ensuring the design and development of industry-leading equipment.
Given the specialized nature of our equipment within the industry, our seasoned department manager, who has a wealth of experience within the company, will assume the role of a mentor to the incoming manager for the next 12 to 18 months. During this period, he will offer invaluable guidance and expertise in the development and production of our premium equipment.
Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership: Manage a team of 3 engineers, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to team members, ensuring their growth and development.

Project Management: Oversee the entire design and development process for new Under Bridge Units, from concept to production. Develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, and ensure that projects are delivered on time and within budget.

Product Design: Lead the development of innovative Under Bridge Inspection units, taking into consideration safety, efficiency, and manufacturability. Collaborate with the engineering team to create detailed drawings, models, assemblies, and prototypes.

Engineering Expertise: Apply advanced engineering knowledge to solve complex design and technical problems. Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies to guide the team in making informed design decisions.

Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality control processes to ensure that products meet all safety and quality standards. Work closely with the quality assurance team to address and resolve any design-related issues.

Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all designs comply with relevant safety, environmental, and industry-specific regulations, and standards, including ANSI, OSHA, and others.

ANSI A92 Committee – Eventually become a member of the ANSI A92 main committee and A92.20 subcommittees.

Cost Management: Collaborate with the manufacturing team to design products that are cost-effective to produce. Identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining product integrity.

Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments for design changes or new product developments, identifying potential hazards and implementing necessary mitigations.

Documentation: Maintain accurate records of design changes, calculations, and testing results. Create and manage documentation for designs, engineering standards, and best practices.
Qualifications:

BS degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering or equivalent education and experience.

A minimum of 10 years of experience in design engineering, preferably in the manufacturing of aerial work platforms, cranes, or mobile equipment.

Proven experience in team management and leadership.

High proficiency in SolidWorks: part, assembly and drawing creation, existing model, and drawing modification and product simulation. Training to SolidWorks Certified Professional level provided.

Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D.

Working knowledge of hydraulic systems.

Proficient in applying Lean principles to the product development and production process. Committed to creating an enterprise environment of continuous improvement.

Demonstrated ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a team environment and interact with sales, service, and production department personnel.

Experience with the processes of welding, machining, large mechanical and hydraulics assembly of mobile hydraulic equipment is required.

Demonstrated effective oral and written communication skills with users of the equipment users, sales, production, and service personnel.

Capable of operating Under Bridge Inspection Units (with proper training) on a bridge for testing and evaluation purposes.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Familiarity with industry-specific regulations, standards, and best practices.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A commitment to safety and product quality.

Professional engineering licensure (PE) is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Works well in office, production plant and outdoor environment along with occasional travel.

Capable of climbing ladders and maneuvering on top and underneath truck mounted equipment.
