Job OverviewTE Connectivity's Manufacturing Engineering Teams are process leaders for stamping, molding, or assembly-related topics, ensuring the processes are running at optimum levels for quality and output. They are experts in mold tooling, die tooling, machining, and assembly techniques, possessing extensive knowledge of the associated manufacturing processes which may include the optimization and standardization of stamping/molding/assembly or other processes within the manufacturing environment. Manufacturing Engineering Teams enable the TE business unit plants to reach TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) requirements, roll out Centers of Excellence (COE), Best Demonstrated Practices (BDP's), and advise plants on tool and machine duplications/corrections/improvements. They design and develop manufacturing processes and automation platforms and apply them for the realization of new product developments as well as optimization of existing products already in production. The Teams also support Product Development in the selection and optimization of tools for piece part production and the selection of the most suitable manufacturing concepts relative to planned manufacturing quantities, quality requirements, and manufacturing location. They act as an interface between engineering and production to ensure the manufacturability of new designs and smooth production ramp as well as support the research & development teams to produce sample manufacturing equipment, product samples, and prototypes.

ResponsibilitiesThe Manufacturing (Tool Design) Engineer will design, produce, implement, and optimize tooling and fixtures used in manufacturing and testing processes in the operations of TE Connectivity. This engineer will be responsible for identifying and managing machine shops (vendors) to procure tooling designs. He/She will interface with design, manufacturing, and quality engineering to solve problems, improve manufacturability, and implement continual improvement.
Responsibilities: - Develop expertise in relay, contactor, and fiber optics manufacturing processes.
- Work with Manufacturing Engineers to identify opportunities for new tooling concepts.
- Provides technical support and assistance in the preparation and carrying out of original or adaptations to designs and design changes, focused on production equipment and supporting production processes.
- Prepares concepts and completes detail and layout drawings (includes BOM)
- Makes layouts of components, calculates stack-up of detail components, and may prepare major cost studies consisting of new details and/or marked prints and all supporting documentation
- Actively maintains and improves knowledge of tool design, machines, engineering standards, procedures, and new technology (materials, hydraulic and/or pneumatic clamping)
- Work primarily on fixtures for assembly, work holding, and special tools used in welding, assembly, and testing.
- Lead or participate in cross-functional project teams designed to introduce new products, improve existing products, better our manufacturing process, or, advance our competitive advantage.
- Provide an estimate for the number of hours to design, process, manufacture, and inspect tooling components to support all facets of final product delivery.
- Uses computerized design and computer-aided engineering tools to perform job requirements
- Tool Room support - Supervising as needed Tool Room personnel, and systems.
- Participate in the transition of a product from concept to pilot production into manufacturing/industrialization.
What your background should look likeCompulsory: - BS degree in engineering, mathematics, physical science, or other applicable degree.
- 3 years experience designing tooling and fixtures.
- High level of computer literacy. Experience preferred in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Comfortable learning new software and programs to effectively manage design requirements.
- Must be a high-energy self-starter, results-oriented proactive, and able to work effectively with little supervision.
- 3 years experience using Creo or other 3D design software.
Preferred: - Lean/Six Sigma Green or Black belt
- Experience with developing manufacturing processes for new products.
- Good understanding of Bill of Materials, Manufacturing Execution System, Specification Management, Change Management
- Data collection and analysis experience. Ability to develop data-driven root cause analyses and solutions.
- 3D printing experience
- Advanced degree

COMPENSATION Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $78,320 - 117,480 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
