Tool Design Engineer designs and develops tools and machinery used to facilitate and optimize manufacturing processes. Reviews product design and build requirements to determine tooling concepts, design options, testing plans, and specifications. Being a Tool Design Engineer develops designs for fixtures, jigs, gauges, cutting and forming tools, carts, racks, and other items to support production. Utilizes Computer-Aided Design (CAD) to create accurate, complete, and concise design models and documentation to fabricate tools. Additionally, Tool Design Engineer estimates costs, resource requirements, and materials required for tools. May manage the sourcing, quoting, or procurement of purchased tools. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tool Design Engineer work is closely managed. The team focuses on designing high-performance buildings and sites for Government, Education, Commercial, and Healthcare clients.     Position Summary

    The responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:

    • HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems design
    • Working closely with clients to meet and exceed their objectives
    • Attending and participating in various meetings with internal and external clients throughout the course of the project life cycle
    • Performing field verifications, identifying, and organizing acquired field data
    • Ensuring LHB QA/QC processes are followed
    • Completing and/or reviewing design calculations & equipment selection
    • Assisting with project reporting requirements and documentation
    • Providing oversight and guidance to junior engineers and technicians on project designs

    Minimum Qualifications

    • 3 years of previous employment in engineering design
    • Professional Engineer in MN or WI (or ability to obtain within 1 year)
    • Upon receipt of an offer of employment, applicants must be able to successfully complete pre-employment onboarding requirements that will include a criminal/civil background check and drug screen, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations

    • Experience using Revit
    • Possess excellent communication, interpersonal, time management and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong working knowledge of mechanical and plumbing codes, concepts, design, calculation methods, and software programs
