Maintains tool functionality, calibration specifications, and safe condition by performing frequent inspections of tools and equipment for wear, defects, or damage. Being a Tool Crib Attendant keeps an inventory of tools by tracking the distribution of tools and users in a database or other system. Orders new tools and equipment or repairs tools as needed. Additionally, Tool Crib Attendant has training and experience in an industrial environment with familiarity of heavy machinery and tools. May require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tool Crib Attendant possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Job Description:
Tool crib attendants track the supply and use of equipment in the tool crib at a construction site. When construction workers need tools to complete their tasks, the tool crib attendant gives out the tools and tracks them to make sure they are returned at the end of the day. In this role, your job duties include keeping an accurate inventory of the tools and storing them properly. You also inspect the equipment to make sure they are in good condition and report those that are worn, damaged, lost, or unsafe to use. Depending on the company, you may also be responsible for ordering replacement tools to replenish the supply in the tool crib or repair tools that are only slightly damaged.
