Tool Crib Attendant jobs in Hammond, IN

Tool Crib Attendant inventories, stores, and distributes hand tools and other equipment. Maintains tool functionality, calibration specifications, and safe condition by performing frequent inspections of tools and equipment for wear, defects, or damage. Being a Tool Crib Attendant keeps an inventory of tools by tracking the distribution of tools and users in a database or other system. Orders new tools and equipment or repairs tools as needed. Additionally, Tool Crib Attendant has training and experience in an industrial environment with familiarity of heavy machinery and tools. May require a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Tool Crib Attendant possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     Job Description

    Responsible for receiving, sorting, and issuing tools and equipment to support the production floor. Maintains records of issued tools and monitors inventory to ensure items are available as needed.

    The department is structured as a formal team and requires the ability to work within the team.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Issue tools and equipment to workers
    • Maintain a record of tools and equipment issued and returned.
    • Performs cycle counts on inventory to maintain proper levels.
    • Receives and distributes incoming supplies.
    • Purchase order entry, approval, verification and processing
    • Perform basic housekeeping to keep area clean and safe.
    • Various other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required Education & Experience

    • High School diploma or equivalent required.
    • Two years of manufacturing or warehouse experience in shipping and receiving with an understanding of competencies.

    Competencies

    • Ability to follow established procedures.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office
    • Knowledge of purchased parts (nuts, bolts, washers, bits, tips, counter boxes and electrical items).
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Organizational Skills.
    • Knowledge of AITF16949 quality standards.
    • Problem solving skills sufficient to address both routine and non-routine problems.
    • Communication skills to interact with employees, customers and suppliers in a professional manner.
    • Math skills sufficient to perform department related tasks as required.
    • Ability to work effectively with people.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

    Work Environment

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a manufacturing environment.

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.

    The job requires very frequent visual effort and concentration, and the ability to move throughout the plant. The employee must lift and / or move up to 40 pounds.

    The work requires regular standing, walking, bending, lifting and a variety of physical activities.
