    Job Title: Aquatics Manager Status: Full Time

    Reports to: Operations Director Hourly Rate: $14 - $16

    Revision Date: April 2024 Based on experience and certifications


    Position Summary:

    This individual will take a leadership role in developing, organizing, and implementing high quality YMCA aquatic programs including swim lessons and life guarding. Provides direct leadership, instruction, and motivation for aquatics staff in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures and creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement. This position could offer advancement within the aquatics department.


    Essential Functions:

      *Responsible for ensuring and maintaining adequate staffing by hiring, scheduling, training, supervising, and evaluating all necessary staff for the pool's operation. This includes Lifeguards and Swim Lesson Instructors. *Conduct in-service training required by the YMCA Association and State of Nebraska. *Organizing, planning and instruction of YMCA swimming lessons for all ages and abilities. *Assists in implementing, tracking, and controlling the department budget. *Support proper health and safety standards, in accordance with Association Aquatics Safety Standards and State of Nebraska guidelines. Implement training strategies to ensure that the highest possible safety standards are incorporated and met including the YMCA Swim Test Policy and any other patron safety measures. *Know and understand all YMCA, state, county and local health and safety requirements, including Aquatic Safety Plan, Emergency Action plan, other emergency procedures and staff certifications. *Maintain positive relations with participants, parents, members, and staff. *Serve as a role model to promote and demonstrate professional demeanor. *Assist in maintaining all records, in accordance with state law for pool maintenance, staff training and certifications, program member attendance and evaluation of participant skills. *Maintains the level of physical and mental readiness required by all certifications. *Actively participate in training sessions, designated meetings, and special events. *Other duties as assigned.


    Qualifications:

      *Enthusiastic, Fun, Great Personality *One to two years Aquatics or related experience preferred *Possess the following certifications or be able to obtain: *Standard First Aid and Lifeguard certification *CPR for Professional Rescuer and AED *Pool Operator Certification *Lifeguard Instructor Certification *Ability to work well with and relate to diverse populations.
