Title: Imaging & Testing Precertification Assistant

Position Responsibilities:

• Responsible for obtaining precertification/authorization for imaging and testing procedures
• Reviewing all insurance information submitted by patients to ensure the submission is made to the appropriate insurance carrier
• Communicating with providers and their medical teams as needed
• Submitting precertification to the patient's insurance carrier in a timely manner to ensure authorization can be obtained prior to the scheduled date of service
• Reviewing patient's medical records to assist with obtaining precertification
• Verifying patient demographic information and updating information as needed
• Reviewing and analyzing Imaging schedules daily to ensure optimal patient care
• Managing and coordinating all patient testing referrals through communication with other Physician's offices and hospitals
• Transferring patient calls to the correct department as needed
• Maintaining patient confidentiality and complying with all HIPAA rules and regulations

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, including orthopedics
• Ability to communicate knowledgeably and effectively with many different insurance carriers daily
• Ability to communicate knowledgeably and effectively with outside healthcare facilities daily
• One year of insurance experience in a medical office is preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Knowledge of personal computer applications and Electronic Medical Record
