Being a Testing Technician assists technical teams with recommendations to resolve testing problems, roadblocks or equipment malfunctions that impact the performance or validity of testing. Requires knowledge of industry specific tests and testing equipment. Additionally, Testing Technician typically requires an associate degree. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Testing Technician works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     NGE-TFT is seeking dynamic and self-motivated individuals looking with previous experience in materials testing for both year-round and seasonal full-time positions. Typical job responsibilities will include:

    • General earthworks observation and testing including soil compaction testing using a nuclear densometer and/or sand cone apparatus;
    • Concrete/masonry field testing/sampling, placement observation, and lab testing
    • Asphalt field testing/sampling
    • Performing various laboratory soil index tests
    • Preparing and overseeing implementation of quality control testing/sampling plans;
    • Periodic SWPPP inspections

    General Qualifications:

    • 2-5 years experience in construction materials testing
    • Willing to work shifts in excess of 8-hrs/day and/or weekends.
    • Willing to travel to remote job sites

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • ACI certifications related to testing/sampling concrete
    • WAQTC certifications
    • Nuclear densometer experience and trianing
    • Familiarity with relevant ASTM and AASHTO testing standards
    • ICC certifications in soils, concrete, and/or asphalt a plus
    • Basic materials laboratory testing experience
    • Construction site experience

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Highschool diploma or GED
    • Valid driver's license and clean driving record
    • US Citizen or green card holder
    • Able to routinely lift 50-lbs
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, etc.) and abele to efficiently compose and submit electronic reports
    • Good communication skills - both verbal and written
    • Punctual and reliable
    • Well organized, with an attention to detail

    Compensation:

    Compensation will be based on the candidate’s experience and will be adjusted periodically based on performance, tenure, and inflation. However, starting pay for this position will typically range between $38-$35/hr (DOE). Successful year-round candidates will be subject to a probationary employment period, after which company-provided benefits (paid leave/medical/dental/401k/profit sharing/etc.) will apply.

    Pay: $28.00 - $35.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 40 – 80 per week
