LOCATION: Test Site A-15, Santa Rosa Island / Eglin AFB, FL – On Site
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Employees in this capacity must maintain flight operations currency and meet standardization/evaluation requirements to fly in military-controlled airspace. Will be required to learn all aspects of UAS operations from launch to sensor package operations as well as communications with air controllers. Additional duties that may be required include researching replacement parts, stocking and inventory control, operation/maintenance actions documentation, minor maintenance, and inspections of assigned vehicles and trailers, installation and connection of test and data collection equipment in vehicles and trailers as well as integration of platforms under test into UAS airframes. Will be required to use standard Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook to create reports and collect data.
GENERAL DUTIES: Applicants for this position will serve primarily as UAS group I - III flight and ground crew. Assists higher qualified UAS pilots as required. In addition to flight operations, incumbents will also be trained to perform inspection, maintenance, overhaul, and repair of airframe and propulsion systems of groups I- III UAS vehicles. Will be required to perform launch and recovery UAS operations in addition to pilot and co-pilot duties and may be required to monitor in-flight communications with air traffic controllers. Will be responsible for procuring necessary tools and equipment to facilitate maintenance and operations, as well as establishing tool and equipment accounts and performance of inventories. Will be required to research and establish spare and replacement parts stock levels and perform inventory control of spare parts and supplies. Must document maintenance actions, as well as perform minor maintenance and inspections of assigned vehicles and trailers. Assists with installation and connection of test and data collection equipment in vehicles and trailers as well as integration of platforms under test into UAS airframes. Uses company proprietary programs for time accounting.
OTHER DUTIES: Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor as necessary to support contract/mission support requirements in job-related areas.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school education or equivalent mandatory. Advanced, formal education in the UAS field is desirable. Familiarity with inspection, maintenance, and repair of UAS propulsion and flight control systems required. Experience with UAS operations as a pilot or co-pilot is highly desirable. Remote-controlled aircraft are desirable. Must be capable of inspecting, and operationally checking propulsion and flight control systems and components. FAA part 107 certification is highly desirable.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Applicants will be required to comply with USAF and FAA flight management requirements. Must wear company-provided PPE. Complies with all applicable federal, state, local, and company regulations. Will be required to meet audio and laser requirements. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work may be performed at any location on the Eglin Test range in all weather conditions. TDY to locations throughout CONUS may be required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Required to climb, bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, pull, or carry heavy items.
