Terminal Manager - Large supervises the operations of a storage/distribution terminal (bulk, package, or both) associated with a plant. Coordinates loading, unloading, monitoring, and maintenance activities. Being a Terminal Manager - Large ensures delivery schedules are met and communicates changes or delays to shippers and customers. Implements all required safety policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure secure and safe operations. Additionally, Terminal Manager - Large prepares and reviews reports related to shipments and inventory. Typically requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Terminal Manager - Large supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Terminal Manager - Large typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.     Description

    Position summary:

    Under the direction of the home office, the terminal manager is responsible for the supervision of all operations in the assigned terminal. Management authority will extend to all aspects of school bus and motor coach in that terminal, i.e. staffing, customer service, and maintenance. This position will be responsible for assisting in the planning and implementation of actions to maximize the terminals financial viability, safe image, and position in the market place and customer satisfaction.

    Essential functions:

    The duties identified below are the essential functions of the position. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    1. Work closely with terminal staff to maintain staff and drivers to control all aspects of operations.
    2. Maintain a good working relationship with all customers.
    3. Work closely with accounting to make sure payroll, invoicing and other reports are ready to process in a timely manner.
    4. Make sure all records are up to date and accurate. (Personnel, maintenance, bonus, vehicle and any other records are deemed pertinent).
    5. Continually work to grow and strengthen terminal through all types of transportation services including school bus, motor coach and transit.
    6. Communicate well both verbally and written, while creating an environment that is inviting to people, both internal and external.
    7. Maintain a good working knowledge of regulatory and legislative issues affecting the school bus industry. (Rules and regulations, Fed and State laws, etc).
    8. Other duties as assigned.
    9. Manage the terminal to include staff, shop, contracts, dispatch process and all other aspects of the terminal.
    10. Work to consolidate school bus, transit and motor coach operations

    Qualifications


    To perform this position successfully, an individual must demonstrate regular, predictable attendance and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     Education/certification/licensure:

    • College / Business degree

    Experience required:

    • 1-2 years previous supervisory experience is required preferably in school bus transportation.
    • Experience in sales and marketing preferred.

    Knowledge and skills required:

    • Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software products
    • Strong communication and organizational skills.
    • Possess a functional knowledge of the demographics of the service area
    • Ability to exercise independent authority in making decisions.
    • Ability to speak effectively with management, staff and customers
    • Ability to understand and communicate, state, federal, and school district regulations
    • Ability to calculate figures and perform addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
    • Follow Kobussen Buses Ltd. safety and operational rules and procedures
    • Obtain and maintain a CDL license with S & P endorsements
