Telecommunications Engineering Technician assists telecommunication engineers in the design and analysis of telecommunication networks. Creates plans and drawings detailing the layout of routers, circuits, cables, switches, or other telecommunications equipment. Being a Telecommunications Engineering Technician ensures network connectivity for end-users. May evaluate existing networks and recommend design changes to improve performance. Additionally, Telecommunications Engineering Technician requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Telecommunications Engineering Technician may require 0-1 year of general work experience. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job.     Responsibilities

    • Must value safety over and above all other considerations
    • Perform work on the tower while ensuring that a safe, quality installation is performed, including rigging, hoisting, landing, fastening, load hopping, etc.
    • Install equipment including masts, clamping, bracing, supports, antennas, RRUs, cabling, bolting, assist in shooting proper azimuth within tolerances, labeling, picture-taking, documentation
    • At the instruction of Tower Crew Leader, perform coax, fiber, lines, and hybrid cable installations, connector installation, sweep and testing assisting, weather proofing, color-coding, labeling, etc. connect coax feed lines and jumpers per piping diagrams, and support and fasten adequately for a quality, lasting installation
    • Complete grounding, terminations, fastening, proper bolting and antioxidant use, support of leads, cad-welding as required, etc.
    • Assist with maintenance of vehicles and equipment, tool inventory, etc.

    Qualifications:

    • Read and understand construction drawings, piping diagrams, job specifications, mounting specs, testing procedures, etc.
    • Willing to work independently under limited supervision
    • Provide communication and customer service that is white-glove
    • Current OSHA 10hr certification is a plus

    Physical Demands:

    • Must be at least 18 years old, have a valid drivers license
    • Able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background, drug testing and MVR
    • Enjoy working outdoors in all types of weather while performing work at various heights, for long periods of time
    • Must be able to meet the physical requirements set forth in ANSI Z359 for fall protection gear
